Morris of Scottsdale, authonties said. Morris, 59, took off about 3 p.m. Wednesday from the Estrella Sailport outside the small town of Maricopa in his own Robinson R-22 helicopter, a Pinal County sheriff spokeswoman said. The wreckage was discovered Friday afternoon. Radio personnel at Luke Air Force Base received a report of a downed aircraft at 5:47 p.m. from a civilian pilot. A state Department of Public Safety helicopter confirmed the crash that night, authorities said. Mike Neutzman, a traffic-watch pilot for radio station KTAR (620 AM), was killed in July 1991 when the Robinson R-22 he was flying crashed. The R-22 is one of the most common types of helicopter in the Valley because it is relatively inexpensive to buy and operate. At least four R-22s have crashed in the United States since March 1987.
