WAYNE TEAKELL 1961 - 1986 STATION AGENT, CHIEF AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT, ASST. STATION MANAGER, STATION MANAGER OKC MKC MCI CYS OAK CID My name is Wayne Teakell. I was Station Agent, Chief Agent, Senior Station Agent, and ASSM at MKC and as ASSM helped to open up MCI before I went to CYS as Station Manager, in June of 1974. I was in CYS until June of 1981, at which time I transferred to OAK, as a station agent. In August of 1983, I transferred to CID, and was there until we ceased operation. I have maintained my home here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I retired in Feb., 2002, and I now work part time as property management for Leonard Express Trucking. I am glad to find out about the Frontier News, and am enclosing my check for subscription. It is good to hear about a lot of the people I knew over the years. -Wayne Teakell (6/17/03) PERSONNEL CHANGES Wayne Teakell from senior station agent to assistant manager transportation services MKC. From Aug 1970 Arrow-Jet News -Jake Lamkins (5/20/06) Hi Jake, Sorry about letting my subscription slip up on me. I knew it was getting close. I had forgotten about it until I got the red line issue. It brings back good memories when I read about old friends. It saddens me when I read about old friends who have gone west, but in reading their names, it brings back many memories of them. I had forgotten about Sid Tolbert until I read his name in the last issue. Sid had been manager at Midway, in Chicago, until it closed. He came to Kansas City as ASSM along with myself & George Terryberry. I am sorry that both Sid & George have gone west. They were good friends of mine. Sid passed away while working at Kansas City, the old MKC. -Wayne Teakell (1/25/08) Hi Jake, I am writing to let you know about another one of our comrades who has gone west. Howard Petracek passed away on Feb 5th, 2010. Howard started out as a station agent in Wichita, KS. He transferred to Oakland, CA as a senior station agent in 1981 when Oakland opened up and was there until Frontier ceased operations. I worked with Howard from 1981 to 1983, at which time I transferred to Cedar Rapids, IA to help open that station. I am sure that all of Howard's friends remember him as a very friendly person. I have asked his son, Steve, to email you the info regarding Howard. -Wayne Teakell (3/6/10) Dear Jake, I just got the Fall issue of the Frontier News. I was reading about the people who had gone west and came upon a name that I have not thought about for years, Bill Hull. Bill was assistant manager in OKC under Jim Moore when I went to work for Central Airlines, March 6, 1961. I have slept once or twice since those days but this is what I remember Bill telling me. He was from Holdenville, Okla, and if I remember correctly, he said Central used to fly into Holdenville and that he went to work for Central there. -Wayne Teakell (10/14/10) HDL, Holdenville, was an original CN destination when service started Sep 15, 1949. The Sep 1, 1951 CN route map shows HDL. It is not on the Apr 26, 1953 CN route map. I've posted a letter mailed on the first flight and the 1953 route map. I suspect Bill went to TUL when HDL closed. -Jake Lamkins (10/14/10) Wayne left a voice message tellling me Lee Davis had died. -Jake Lamkins (2/11/21) I found his obituary while doing a periodic web search for Frontier deaths: WAYNE TEAKELL Cedar Rapids It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wayne Teakell, age 82, -https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/thegazette/name/wayne-teakell-obituary?id=20271986 (10/28/21) FLacebook Another FLight West Reported WAYNE TEAKELL 1961 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT, ASST.
