He heard from her mother about 30 years ago. -Jake Lamkins (7/29/10) Hi Jake, Thanks very much for continuing to publish "Frontier News." Enclosed is a check to extend Walt's subscription. As you wrote in the current issue (Spring, 2011), too many deaths were reported this time. We'll definitely miss Ace Avakian now & again and reading his wonderful articles. However, other people will continue sending articles to you for publication, I certainly hope. Keep up the good work! Sincerely, Jane & Walt Ruehle (5/14/11) I have a great story about Walt Ruehle and me as a new F/O back in 1963. If you would like to see and print it let me know. -Ken Larason (1/26/12) Hi Ken, I would love to hear the story about you and Walt. Just email it to me. I flew with Walt a lot at Frontier. I talked to him on Oct 3rd, we had a nice 45-minute visit. I'd need Jane's address, if you, have it? Thanks, Jake, for everything you do for the Frontier group. -Bob Folken (10/21/22) Hi Bob, Great hearing from you. I had an email from Walt on Oct 4 so it was surprising to me. I'm still looking for an obituary for him. -Jake Lamkins (10/21/22) Hi Jake, I talked to Jane, Walter's wife today. Walt was 92 years old, born May 7, 1930. He was having kidney & heart problems, also couldn't hear or see very well. She said he went to sleep on Saturday 10-8-22, didn't really wake up. Died Tuesday, 10-11-22 . He has 2 Nephews in Boulder, Co. He & Jane have a hangar at Front Range Spaceport, a Cub airplane, she still flies quite often. They were married for 53 years. She plans to stay in same home near Cherry Creek Park in Aurora. A Memorial will be held at Stan Peter's Hangar, soon as Bill Watkins & I come up with a date. Anything is fine with her. Walter was a one of the best of Frontier, a legend and true friend. Frontier Hugs, -Bonnie Dahl (10/23/22) Thanks for the update, Bonnie. Is there going to be an obituary? Let me know when the memorial is to be and I'll add it to his webpage that I'm about to start. Hugs back. -Jake Lamkins (10/24/22) Hi Jake, I didn't ask Jane about an obituary. She's a no frills lady, just flies her airplane. Wouldn't be any Gone West celebration if it weren't for Bill Watkins. Do some people just skip obituaries?
