VINCE DAVIS 1959 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT, PRESIDENTS ASSISTANT OMA BIL ABQ DEN RDD RNO After Frontier, Vince Davis went to work for the City of Reno as a business license inspector. -Joe Max Johnson (2/28/02) Hi Jake! Hope you have a good turn out in FSM on Aug 20. Wish I could make one over that way. Hope to make the one next year in DEN. Want to say THANKS for all the work you have done by keeping the OLD FL FOLKS informed. The President Assistant Program Started on 08 Jun 67 with the Pre-In-Augural flight from DEN to STL non-stop with all the bigwigs from the Cities of DEN and STL, States of Colo and Mo and a lot of Airline and Airport people. I was honored to be the first PA on that flight and remember we served a lot of booze and Rocky Mountain Oysters on the flight. Upon arriving over STL the Captain obtained permission to Circle the STL ARCH, THE GATEWAY TO THE WEST. Passengers were impressed. Each was then given a beautiful wooden plaque with the Arch on it in silver with a silver dollar under it and the date of 08 Jun 67 on it. I still have mine. Brings back a lot of memorys. Take care and tell Larry Thomas and others hello for me. -Vince Davis (8/10/05) Great hearing from you, Vince. I was a senior agent in STL 1968-70 and remember you and the other PAs. I saw one of the arch plaques on auction at ebay.com a few months ago. I got outbid for it. -Jake Lamkins (8/10/05) I am sending you a check for a subscription to your FAL Newsletter for 2006. Terry Hansen, Vince Davis & I sure enjoy all the News. We sit around the pool and reminisce about the good old days with Frontier. -Darwin Kerr (11/26/05) Subject: Pic of OLD Frontier Employees Davis, pool party May 28, 2006, Lake Havasu City, AZ Vince Davis, Darwin Kerr & Terry Hansen -Darwin Kerr (6/2/06) Thanks a lot, Darwin! Yall are looking good. -Jake Lamkins (6/2/06) Been trying to locate some old FL employees and also check some date of hires. My orig DOH was 2-21-59 but lost about 4 yrs when managing PA program. I think my DOH changed (for bidding shifts, vac etc. to 2-03-63. Also sending via us mail, check to start my own subscription for the news letter... I have been sharing for a long time and someone said we need to keep some money coming in to keep the news coming out. Just like the old saying, "Check is in the mail." It is! Thanks again, Jake, for all the work you have done over the years. You are the kind of person that made Frontier such a wonderful airline. -Vince Davis (11/6/07) V S DAVIS Station agent seniority date of 2/21/59 on the 8/1/66 FL/ALEA seniority list, Station agent seniority date of 2/3/63, emp# 01768, on the 1/1/86 FL/ALEA seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (11/10/07) Hi Jake, Keep up the good work on the Frontier News. To much work and long hours. This is just the basic's as Diane's computer is not up yet but mine should be, so let's see what happens. Hope all is well in your house and your doing well! Wishing each and every one a great 4th of July!!!!! Your friend, -Vince Davis (6/27/12) Hi Vince, Got your renewal today and thanks for your support. What stations besides DEN and RNO did you work at FL? Hope all's well with you. -Jake Lamkins (7/28/12) It should be I that is thanking you for all you have done for the employees/Frontier Families over the years. We moved to Chandler to be closer to family and a lot closer to Mayo Clinic/hospital in Scottsdale. Got tired of driving from Lake Havasu to Phoenix with my bladder cancer. Doing quite well as got most of my strength back and just finished moving into our new home here in Chandler, AZ. Started in Omaha in 59 and moved to Billings late that year. Was drafted in 63 and discharged in 65. Only place open when I got out of the service was in Albuquerque. One day "Pappy" Burt Clark was in ABQ as he was the Regional Director for the Phoenix area. I did not know at the time that he was watching me working the ticket counter with a bunch of passengers off of a Continental flight that had a mechanical. A week later he came back to ABQ and asked me if I would go to Denver for training for a new program called the "Presidents Assistants". Well I ended up in Denver and joined about 13 other guys in the training class for the new program. This was in 67 and when training was over I was given the job of Manager of the P.A. program. That lasted 2 years and then Jack Bass and I stayed on to co-ordinate and accompany the many charters that we had. When Frontier grew they needed all the jets back in scheduled service. Jack and I went back to the Denver Station as agents/then Senior Agents under Royal Burt. Loved that man as he was great to work for. When they announced they were to open in Redding, CA. I helped open it. Hated to see it close as it was beautiful country. Redding was open about 4 yrs and when it closed I transferred to Reno as a Senior Agent. 27 1/2 yrs and loved every minute of it. Have a lot of great memories of all the people I worked with, pilots, stew's, now flt. attendents, mechanics and all the wonderful station people and management. I could go on and on but I have rattled enough. Take care Jake as it was employees like you that kept the airline running and I know you must have some great things to remember! -Vince Davis (7/28/12) Great stuff, Vince! Thanks for sharing. Check out FLacebook. Just put Old Frontier Airlines in the Facebook search. -Jake Lamkins (7/28/12) Just to let you know, my day is going GREAT!!!! Went to Mayo Clinic this morning for the follow-up on my one year check up. Was given a clean bill of health as no sign of cancer. Next appt. will be in one year. Thanks for the prayers and thinking of me. May you all have a Great Christmas. I will. -Vince Davis (12/17/12) GREAT NEWS, Vince! Merry Christmas. -Jake Lamkins (12/17/12) The Good Old Days! Circa in late 1960's. Photo attached. This is the evening meal served on the old Frontier Airlines flights from/to Denver, Las Vegas, Dallas, Kansas City, Phoenix and St. Louis. This was even in coach. These were the days of real silver-ware, real linen, china dishes, your own bottle of Mateus wine and in first class had warm finger towels and free cocktails. I almost forgot, the evening flights to Dallas were called the Petroleum Club Service and served Steak and Lobster. The airlines of today are complete losers when it comes to Customer Service. Just sharing a few memories from these 28 years working with Frontier Airlines. What a wonderful group of people made up the Frontier Family of Employees. I was Station Agent, Sr. Agent, Manager of In-flight President's Assistant Program plus the hundreds of charter flights that Jack Bass and I were on for two plus years. -Vince Davis (7/16/13) Hello Jake, Thanks again for all your work & dedication you put into this FL News. I am always looking for the next issue! Doing pretty well and will see Mayo Clinic in Dec. for my 2nd year check-up. Wife & I are driving to Montana in about ten days. Will be gone about 3 weeks visiting friends & family. -Vince Davis, Feb-59 to the end (7/20/13) I got a call today from Diane Davis letting us know that Vince passed away on April 15,2022 from Alzheimer’s. She said he had been in memorial care from September of 2021 until his death. He had previously been diagnosed with cancer but that is not what he died from. He was 81 years old and they were married 59 years. No Obit just a short note in the Redfield SD paper…with no details—they didn’t want anything personal published. She is sending me a note about his burial service in the military cemetery at Arizona Memorial Cemetery. I will send that a long when she gets it to me. She said in a couple of days. Diane had back surgery on the 12th of April and Vince died on the 15th…double whammy.. She said that while it is hard to lose him, he had no quality of life and didn’t recognize anyone the last month. -Carolyn Boller (6/22/22) V S DAVIS Emp# 01768 BIL station agent DOB 7/20/40 DOH 2/21/59 Per the Feb 1960 employees roster. ------------------------------- V S DAVIS Emp# 01768 DEN special representative DOB 7/20/40 DOH 2/21/59 Per the Dec 1970 employees roster. ------------------------------- V S DAVIS Emp# 01768 RNO OO Address in Redding CA Per the Nov 1984 employees roster. ------------------------------- V S DAVIS Emp# 01768, ORG# 3492-RNO DOB 7/20/40 DOH 2/21/59 Station agent seniority date of 2/3/63 (He lost seniority while out of the agent craft.)
