TRUMAN JETER 1962 - 1985 STATION AGENT, STAFF MANAGER, STATION MANAGER, STL PUB TUS DEN After August '86 I spent the entire fall travelling as I went to every Notre Dame football game. I realized this life void would occur again only at retirement and it was Lou Holtz's first year at the school. After the first of the year I received a call from Truman Jeter about working for UAL. I had not planned on working for an airline again but after yet another call from Truman I started in early Feb. of '87 and have been with United since. Frontier now seems like another lifetime. -Bob Higley (7/8/03) I started with FL on 11/7/61 in Minot, ND as a Station Agent. After 2 miserable cold winters up there I transferred to Sidney, NE in May of '63. Was there 2 years when they reduced the 3 man station to a 2 man station and I was sent to Colorado Springs. I met Truman Jeter in Colorado Springs and we became good friends. Truman was a very ambitious guy and he moved up the ladder quite quickly. In '68 he called me up to see if I was interested in a position as Customer Service Supervisor in St. Louis. I accepted the position. Bob Brown was the Station Manager with Truman, Bob Dirksen and Jim Mustain as Assistant Managers. Around November of '69 my position in St. Louis was eliminated and I was sent to Denver in a like position. In November of '70 one of the Assistant Manager positions opened up in St. Louis. I believe it was when Jim Mustain went to Memphis, but not sure of that. Anyway, Bob Brown called me and offered the position to me and I moved back to St. Louis. In November of '71 I bid on the Station Manager position in Colorado Springs and was awarded the position. I was in Colorado Springs a second time now for 5 years. In late '77 I asked to go back to Station Agent and I moved to Gallup, NM until there was an opening in Phoenix. I moved to Phoenix in'78. I was furloughed in '85 when FL started having problems. -Larry Roberts (4/19/06) Do you know whatever happened to Truman Jeter? I heard he was at UA but no other info. -Jake Lamkins (5/21/08) Truman was my boss in Denver at United in the late 1980s. He went on the New Orleans as station manager for United but left United sometime in the 1990s. Last I heard he was in Texas, but I lost track. -Jim Kyte (5/21/08) H T JETER Station agent seniority date of 9/4/62 on the 2/1/65, 1/1/66 & 8/1/66 FL/ALEA seniority list. Last contact I had with him was in the late 90's -Jim Mustain (5/24/09) Last I heard on Truman was last November. His ex-wife Karyn said he was retired from UA and living at ALM. -Jake Lamkins (5/25/09) I made contact with former FL Karen Jeter Davis and today, she sent me Truman Jeter's phone number. I called him and had a great 45- 60 minute phone reunion. In our conversation, I mentioned that I had attended the FYV-FSM FL Pignic & saw all you guys. -Jim Mustain (1/16/12) I would like Truman's contact info. I've tried to find him for years. I heard he's retired and living around FMN. Is that right? -Jake Lamkins (1/17/12) I will call Truman this evening. I don't have an address for Truman, but he lives in Stephenville, TX, about 90 miles southwest of Ft. Worth. He is working with the local school district to keep busy. Sounded good and happy. Was very pleased I had contacted him. I'm sure he would be greatly pleased to hear from you. -Jim Mustain (1/17/12) Just got a call from Truman Jeter a few minutes ago. He told me he had a serious accident about 6 weeks ago. Fell from roof of brother's house and broke his neck, several crushed vertabres and other damages. Been in hospital and just released to rehab center. Hopes to go home in a couple of weeks. He has moved back to ABQ, that's where he's in rehab. Seemed to be in good spirits. -Jim Mustain (7/12/12) Had lunch w/Truman Jeter Thursday as passing ABQ. Great visit!! He is recovering well after his accident. -Jim Mustain (11/3/12) FLacebook Post Jake Lamkins September 18, 2017 One of the highlights of this year's FYV-FSM Reunion was the attendance of Truman Jeter with whom I worked in STL 1968-69. (9/18/17) As promised, Truman wrote and sent me an essay about his career and last days at Frontier. I received it today and have posted it at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/FL_Death.html -Jake Lamkins (10/16/17) Hi Truman, Thank you for taking the time to write an essay about your career and final days at Frontier. I've scanned it and will be posting it at our website. You can view it and lots more at http://OldFrontierAirlines.com I started building the website 20 years ago in 1997 when I first got on the internet. That got me into the newsletter, FLacebook and many other things. Like everyone else I was bitter as hell for years and after ten years or so people were ready to start healing. I was ALEA International Vice President in 1986 so I had a larger ball of gall in my stomach than most. Anyway, it has been cathartic for me and it is a great pleasure to keep in touch with the people of Frontier. I met so many of them the four years I was ALEA Master Chairman 1980 - 1984. I hope the reconnection you have made will prove equally helpful with dealing with our past. Best wishes and thanks again for the essay. -Jake Lamkins (10/16/17) Do you have phone number for Truman Jeter. The one I have doesn't work . -Harold Maxwell (5/24/19) The last number I have for him is noted below. I haven't heard from him since right after the reunion in 2017. He still gets the newsletter.
