He went out on a medical several years ago, but was insistent that he never had a Heart Attack. He just did not want to give up his flying. -Bill Blackmon (9/21/99) Tom was a good pilot, good golfer, and evidently a good husband and father. I'm sorry he went in such a hard way. You'd think after a by-pass that he would have gotten better, but it wasn't GOD's way. I'll miss him. -Clyde Hart (9/21/99) Tom was an aspiring pilot, and went to work for CEN, in 1955, as a Purser. He managed to buy his own small airplane, and the Central People helped him learn enough to get his licence. After they discontinued the Pursers, he went to work in Stations, and soon was a Station Manager. When he finally had enough time flying, he was hired as a Co-Pilot, and subsequently was flying Captain. He retired with a medical retirement in 1976. Thanks Jake from all of us, for your dedication to a thankless task. -Bill Blackmon (9/29/99) I was leafing through the Obituary page today and although I can't supply any specific date info, on many of the pilots listed there is no info at all. My memory is far from perfect but I thought I'd pass along what I remember about some of these guys. Tom Munden: Before Tom became a pilot, he was a Station Manager at Amon Carter Field ACF. -H.A. "Frosty" Frost (11/26/99) Thomas F. Munden Station agent seniority date of 12/8/54 on the 1/1/62 CN/ALEA seniority list - shown as ACF station manager. Pilot seniority date of 7/11/62 on the 10/28/67 & 9/1/72 FL/ALPA seniority lists. He's not on the 9/1/81 seniority list. Tom is not shown on any of the purser articles I have so I doubt he was a purser. The purser program ended in Dec 1953 when stewardesses were introduced by CN. -Jake Lamkins (11/10/08) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Tom Munden ACF GSW MKC MCI DAL DFW station agent/manager & pilot Tom Munden has been updated at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Tom_Munden.html Six items added and the page re-done. -Jake Lamkins (9/24/17)
