TERRY MEEHAN 1949 - 1951 STATION AGENT ALS Also, the Gone West of Terry Meehan - 'used to be a station agent up in Montana but I can't remember which particular one, possibly Lewistown. -Ace Avakian (1/30/01) Here is a copy of obituary out of the Denver Rocky Mountain News and I assume this is the Terry Meehan who once worked for FAL in Lewistown Mt. TERRANCE J. MEEHAN, 72, of Lewistown, Mont., formerly of Denver, died Jan. 18. Services were Jan. 22, with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Meehan was born in Alamosa on April 17, 1928. He married Dorothy Sweitzer, 1951. He served in the Marine Corps. He was a draftsman, manufacturer's representative and superintendent of operations. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, United Commercial Travelers and Montana Pilots Association. Survivors include his wife; sons Stephen of Denver and T. Daniel of Washington; daughters Sheila Marsik and S. Diane Davis, both of Montana, S. Maureen Lyles of Littleton ; brother James of Denver; sister Elizabeth Stefiens of Alamosa; eight grandchildren. -James Purdy (1/31/01) I saw your web site and my Dad's obituary. The Rocky Mountain News really condensed it. Terry Meehan was a station agent in Alamosa, starting with Challenger then it became Frontier. That was back in the late 1940's to 51 0r 52. My mom is Dorothy Sweitzer-Meehan, she was a Frontier stewerdess during the same years. The move to Lewistown, MT came decades later and didn't have anything to do with the airline. -Dan Meehan (6/12/01) It's great hearing from you. It's been very hard to find out anything about Terry. Can you give me some more info about his airline career? When did he quit Frontier? Leave Alamosa? Was that the only place he worked. I'd be delighted to put a picture of him on the webpage and any other info you & his family would like. How long did your mom fly? Any kind of info is appreciated. -Jake Lamkins (6/13/01) I'll get you more info later on, but here is what I can tell for now. Terry didn't work for FAL very long. He started out with Challenger (1949) and then on to FAL , all in Alamosa. I believe he worked as a steward for Challenger for a short time? He quit FAL in 1951 and went to work for Sinclair Oil Company as a draftsman. My mom (Dorothy Sweitzer) worked for FAL from 1950 to 52. They were married in Sept. 1951, I believe after 1951 she didn't fly, but had an office job at FAL. All of their flying was done with the DC-3. My parents really enjoyed working for FAL. The glory days of air travel, radial engines and the nice people they met and became friends with. You can talk to Jim Hanson, they kept in contact with him and would see him when they would go down to Denver. They had a lot of old FAL memorabilia and some copies of "Frontier" magazine from when he commuted down to Denver for his business (1974-1981). My parents usually knew who the older people were in the stories. Dad also got the retired Pilots newsletter (even though he wasn't an FAL airline pilot). My parents (and myself) enjoyed reading the stories and recollections in the newsletter. I'll have to work on getting you any photos. -Dan Meehan (6/13/01) Neither Terry nor wife Dorothy is on the Nov 1955 FL Roster. Not on the Jul 1948 CHA Roster either. -Jake Lamkins (11/27/14) FLacebook-FL Club ALS station agent Terry Meehan's memorial webpage has been upgraded. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Terry_Meehan.html Still need a photo of Terry. -Jake Lamkins (12/1/14)
