TERRY HANSEN 1959 - 1986 STATION AGENT, PRESIDENT'S ASSISTANT, ASSISTANT STATION MANAGER DEN OMA PRC BIL PHX DFW GEG I worked in Spokane, WA for 9 years as a Sr. Agent. After FL went under I took the job of Airport Mgr. at Lake Havasu City, AZ from 1987-1989. I had a major heart attack on the job and took a medical retirement. In 1997 I took treatment for cancer and I am now cancer free for the past 5 years. Terry Hansen moved from Spokane last year and he is building a new home in Lake Havasu. Vince Davis moved from Reno last year and has a nice new home in Havasu. We all get together quite often have a pool party and play a few cards. -Darwin Kerr (6/14/04) Couple of things prompts this note. 1. Want to thank you for all the hard work you do in preparing the FL News Paper. It is appreciated, as you know from your mail, and very much enjoyed by the many "Old Frontier" family members! 2. I worked for FL from early 1959 till the end. During that time, I worked both, under the "ALEA" contract and also in management positions at DEN & DFW. I received information on the ALEA retirement program and have just started to receive monthly payments. I have not received any correspondence, regarding any benefits I might be entitled to, from the mangement retirement program. Do you have any information on this program and who I might contact to inquire of any benefits I may be entitled to. Appreciate any information you might provide and hope that this note finds you well. Many thanks, -Terry Hansen, (5/23/05) Hi Terry, Great to hear you're getting your ALEA pension. I've been drawing mine nearly 8 years. I took the 10 year payout which I rolled over to my IRA. It's not much, but "every little bit helps" and I NEVER thought I would see a dime of it after FL crashed. As for the management side, I don't know beans about it. I recall my ol' FYV manager, Don Enos, being bitter about it several years ago at our reunion. I suggest you contact Hank Lund - he should be able to help. His eddress is MCHankLund@cs.com Where & what positions did you hold during your FL career? After FL? -Jake Lamkins (5/24/05) Thanks much for the information on the pension. I will send Hank a note and see what I can find out. My FAL career started in 1959 when FAL expanded the operation into Nebraska. I went from training in DEN to OMA, as a Station Agent. Over the years, I worked as a Station Agent in OMA, PRC, BIL, PHX, DFW AND GEG. I also was a part of the "PA program" in DEN and from there went to DFW, where I worked for Dick Gibson as one of his Assistant Managers. When the end came in 1986, I was in GEG. I elected to stay in GEG and eventually went to work for Spokane Transit Authority, where I worked for over 16 years. I drove 40' and the 75' articulated coaches in the city for 2 years learning the routes and company policies. I then interviewed and tested for a supervisory opening, which I was awarded. This position lasted until my retirement in 2002 and included Dispatching, Road Supervising and Accident Investigation. My retirement, which we are really enjoying, took us on the road in a motorhome to Arizona. After a year or two of travel, we have made our permanent residence in Lake Havasu City, AZ That, in a nut shell, is pretty much the events from 1959 to now. -Terry Hansen (5/24/10) I am sending you a check for a subscription to your FAL Newsletter for 2006. Terry Hansen, Vince Davis & I sure enjoy all the News. We sit around the pool and reminisce about the good old days with Frontier. -Darwin Kerr (11/26/05) Here' a pic of a pool party May 28, 2006, Lake Havasu City, AZ Vince Davis, Darwin Kerr & Terry Hansen -Darwin Kerr (6/2/06) Thanks a lot, Darwin! Yall are looking good. -Jake Lamkins (6/2/06) Keep up the good work on the Frontier News. We enjoy the news. Vince Davis, Terry Hansen and I have dinners together & discuss old Frontier days. Thanks, -Darwin Kerr (1/22/08) Check out some of the other good videos at youtube.com too. I liked the DC-3 low pass. Reminded me of a day in Aug. 1986 of the last Super 80 departing (ferry) GEG back to DEN. Made a great low pass of the field (with prior tower permission) as we all stood at attention on the ramp and watched. -Terry Hansen (1/22/10) Jack Prather phoned to tell me DFW asst manager Terry Hansen died this morning of a heart attack. He said Terry had beat cancer earlier and lived in Laka Havasu City, AZ. His daughter, Christy, called him about an hour ago. He was 70 years old. He saw Terry about two months ago. Terry, Ted Simmons and Larry Thomas were asst managers in DFW under Dick Gibson. He has some pix that he will send along with Terry's obit if he gets one. -Jake Lamkins (5/20/10) Posted at the FL Club: DFW senior station agent Jack Prather phoned to tell me former DFW asst manager Terry Hansen died this morning of a heart attack. Terry's wife Ruth had the nurse at hospital call me this am as Ruth was very distraught. Diane and I were down there in a matter of minutes but he had already passed. He had a massive heart attack and they were unable to revive him. When we got ahold of Kristy (their daughter in Texas) she said she would call Jack Prather. Terrys wife wanted me to e-mail you with the specifics of his date of hire and where he worked etc. Will get that out to you in a couple days. Terry and I grew up together, school together, airline school together and started the same day with Frontier. What a shock to me and my wife as we were very close to him and all his family. His date of hire was 2-09-59 but then revised as he was in management for awhile. Will send more in a couple of days. It has been a very rough day today.....
