SONJE FREDERICKSEN ROGERS 1966 - 1986 FLIGHT ATTENDANT MKC MCI DEN I'm an ex Frontier Airlines flight attendant. Actually started out with Central Airlines in 1966. Jodell Burwell contacted me recently and gave me the information on the Alumni group. I would love to join and hope you will email me with an invitation. I would also like to subcribe to the newsletter. I'm sure if I saw your face I would know you. We were a pretty close group in the "Good Ole Days". My maiden name was Fredericksen Hope to hear from you soon -Sonje Fredericksen Rogers (11/21/03) Thanks for the quick reply I have joined the FL Club I poked around a bit on the site, was saddened to see so many have passed away. I was with Central/Frontier from 1966 to the bankruptcy in 1986. I moved to CA to be near family and changed careers. I got a Real Estate license and have been in property management until just recently. Like you I have retired. -Sonje Fredericksen Rogers (11/21/03) Posted at the FL Club: Sonje Fredericksen Rogers has joined us. Sonje was a FA 1966-86. She's another FA that Jo Delle has contacted about the FL Club. Welcome aboard, Sonje! -Jake Lamkins (11/21/03) Well Sonje, a long time, no-hear. Glad to see you found us or we found you, whatever. -Frosty Frost (11/22/03) Hello Frosty Oh my gosh, I never thought we would ever hook-up again. I was amazed to find out there was an alumni group I have a lot to catch up on. To give you a brief update on me, I'm living in Central CA in a small rural community. I live next door to my sister and between the two of us we have more dogs, cats, horses pigs than I can count I just recently retired from my second career as a property supervisor with a management company I'm enjoying retirement, (sort of). How are you dear friend? I've held you in my thoughts all these years. Are you in touch with a lot of the Central/Frontier people Do you know the where abouts of Joy. The last I heard she remarried and was in Washington state Hope to hear from you -Sonje Fredericksen Rogers (11/22/09) JoDelle and Sue ID'd a pic of Sonje: That's Sonje Fredricksen on the left and Sue Evans in the middle!!! Sue is one of my dearest friends, and Sonje is the one I flew with They were roommates in MCI way back when. -JoDelle Burwell (1/23/04) Sue (Judd) Evans here.....I'm the one in the middle..... left is Sonje Frederickson, right is Joy (Partin) Alley-Smith-Simmons. We flew together as often as possible..... had that wonderful relationship where one could start a sentence & the other could finish it.... what crazy times we had...our "team" got many of those "orchid" letters.... we actually called ourselves "The Truck Sisters", Semi-Pickup-& Dump!!! Don't ask how we arrived at that.....being in the airline business & all..... but I am quite sure it wouldn't make any sense at all....which was made it all so hilarious!!!! It is even MORE exciting to know Warren McClellan is well. Please send me his e-mail address. I can't wait to have time to read his biography. And now, thanks to JoDelle and now you....we are "circulating" again!!!!...and back in touch with one another!!! Kudos for your devotion to this Frontier Family...it was (is, always will be) the best ever friends! Take care...looking forward to more! -Sue Evans (1/22/09 Just want you to know the little girl in the photo of Sonje, Sue and Joy is my granddaughter. She is Mindy Mc Lellan, and lives in Dallas. The day the Frontier News arrived I also received her wedding announcement, for June 19, 2004. She is in her second year at SMU Law School. The picture was made at the DEN airport on my retiring flight. This flight arrived from Mexico. My select crew for the last flight was Sonje, Sue and Joy. Wanda, my wife, was also on the entire flight to Mexico and return, I think the whole crew enjoyed that trip. Vic David was F/O. That flight was a most memorable flight. As you know Vic was hit by a car here in FSM several years ago. I have the original photo in my retirement book, Thank you for printing the picture. -Warren McLellan (4/21/04) Posted at Boom Boom McDowell's guestbook: Just want to express my deepest Sympathy to Boom Boom's Family. I will always remember Boom Boom as one of the sweetest kindest men I have ever known. I had many wonderful flights with Boom Boom. He always made me smile just to see him and hear that wonderful laugh. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. -Sonje Rogers (Fredericksen) (Mariposa, CA ) (10/21/05) Posted at Cheryl Frederick Kardell's guestbook: I would like to express my condolences to Cheryl's Family and Friends at this very sad time. I too remember Cheryl's warm friendly smile and will always remember her in my heart -Sonje Fredericksen (Mariposa, CA ) (10/12/06) Sonje (Fredericksen) Shivers-Rogers of Atwater, California, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Sonje was a Frontier Airlines Flight Attendant based in Kansas City and Denver, 1966 - 1986. After Frontier, she moved to Fresno, California and had a second career in residential property management. Due to health reasons, she retired in 2002, re-locating to be near her sister, nieces, nephew and great niece. Shared laughter while reminiscing about airline stories, her three dogs and her beloved family sustained her through her health challenges. Sonje will be remembered as a beautiful woman with an infectious, quick sense of humor! Services will be private. -Sue Evans (8/13/09) S SHIVERS Flight attendant seniority date of 12/16/66 on the 2/1/81 FL/AFA seniority list. She is missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to know and fly with her. -Phil Stallings, An old Kansas City CV-580 driver (8/14/09) I am truly saddened by the passing of this fine lady. When I first started at the KC domicile in 1967 I flew with her a lot on the DC3 and later the Convair. She always had a great smile and enjoyed the jokes we would tell. I remember one particular "standup overnight" in Garden City on the DC3 when the 6 am departure came around the plane was colder than hell and the coffee urn had frozen and we were deicing. After finally getting under way some passenger tried coming on to her and her reply was: "I've been up all night, I look like the Bride of Frankenstein, I don't feel well, so shut up and drink your coffee and don't give me that where are you from, honey crap" I almost applauded her right then and there. She was the real deal and a great flight attendant. We will miss her so. -John Spencer, An Old Frontier Guy (8/14/09) Your email minded me of a time around February of 1967 when I flew my first trip with Sonje. I was brand new and sitting on my hands in the DC-3. Hal Wheeler and Sonje and I did an overnight in OKC. They wanted to go to dinner and both of them wanted a steak. I was making $400 a month with a wife and baby and steak just wasn't in my budget but I went along anyway for a glass of tea and the conversation. When the waitress came to take the order she said, 'What'll you have honey?' Sonje said she wanted the sirloin. Then the waitress asked 'How do want that cooked?' I'll never forget her answer when she said, 'Knock that sucker in the head, drag his ass across the fire and bring it to me!' At that moment I realized there was a lot more than an empty uniform sitting in her chair. Never once saw her mad or upset. I am truly blessed to have known her. Truly no one took less and gave more than she. -Ron Gallop (8/14/09) I am saddened to hear about Sonje. Many of my memories in Kansas City included several trips I flew with Sonje and Sue. They worked together a lot and I really enjoyed the flights that I experienced with them. Thanks for letting me know. She was such a neat and beautiful person and I will keep her family in my prayers. -Randy Stoddard (8/14/09) As sad as it is knowing Sonje has passed - thinking of her really brings a smile. Hearing the stories already shared raises the smile to a grin! She was something! I was once a young bachelor co-pilot and remember how attracted I/everyone was to her beauty. Quickly she would put we hopeful 3 stripers in our place and we'd still smile. Cheryl and I both had the great pleasure of flying with her. This evening we'll raise our glass to this amazing lady. -Billy Walker (8/15/09) What a neat lady and someone I actually had the pleasure of getting to fly with a few trips as a brand new stew in KC with Sue! -Debbie Vitera Baldwin (8/14/09) Still have not found an obituary. Checked Merced and Fresno newspapers. -Jake Lamkins (8/25/09) Posted at the FL Club Flight attendant Sonje Fredericksen memorial webpage posted: SONJE FREDERICKSEN 1966 - 1986 FLIGHT ATTENDANT MKC MCI DEN http://FAL-1. tripod.com/ Sonje_Fredericksen.html Post your remembrances of Sonje. -Jake Lamkins (8/25/09) Hey, what memories this brings. I, of course, did not know where Sonje or most of the old FL Flight Attendants ended up. When I saw her picture it really brought back memories of a great gal. I was in Atwater, Ca and environs many times while working in FAT and SCK. My deepest sympathy goes to Sonje's family. I also appreciated the other pictures in Sonje's web site. Bob Sampson, Sue and Joy - all such wonderful people to know, even as a ground guy at FSM, FYV (many years) and later ICT, FAT, SCK and finally TUL for the grand finale. -Ken Stewart (8/25/09) Thank you so much for the memorial obituary for Sonje Fredericksen. She was beautiful inside and out and a wonderful friend with a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. -Joy Alley-Smith (8/26/09) Thanks for the kind words, Joy. Sonje's date of hire was only 11 days after mine, and that guaranteed that we flew together a lot thru the sixties. She never ceased to amaze. Life threw Sonje lemons, but she never complained and always saw the bright side of any situation. I talked with her about a month before she passed and never heard a complaint. Wonderful human being. Sorely missed. -Ron Gallop (7/23/13) Hey Ron, It couldn't have been written better. I only flew with her a few times but You're right on!!
