Needless to say it has been a bad week. It's been a bad Christmas but I know that sooner or later everyone has to go through something like this. Time is a great healer. -Rusty Lambert (12/25/08) What terrible news! My heart goes out to you. Words are so useless at times. Hang in there, my friend. -Jake Lamkins (12/26/08) Johnny Mathews and wanted to know what happened at our reunion and if Rusty showed up. I told him that Rusty no-showed and he said he had ben trying to get hold of him all week. All the info I have now. -Phil Stallings (9/8/16) Sorry I was late getting this to you. This stroke thing still has me running slow some days. But, I'm coming back .. slow but sure. Take care my friend. -Phil Stallings P.S. Still no new word on Rusty (9/23/18) Johnny Matthews phoned me today. He had visited Rusty Lambert in a nursing home. He is in a wheelchair due to a stroke a few weeks back. Johnny said he was in bad shape. Unfortunately he did not get a contact or find out if Rusty could take calls, etc. -Jake Lamkins (9/24/16) Hi Rusty, When you didn't show up at the PIGnic we figured you were holed up somewhere with a big tittied cowgirl and a jug of whiskey. Now we learn some sonuvabitch snuck up on you and sucker punched you with some health problems. We know you will give 'em hell and be back in the saddle before they know what hit 'em. You get well quick & we'll see you at the next PIGnic. Jake and the FYV-FSM bunch (9/25/16) I just now talked to Rusty on the phone. He told me he was tired and weak. And, he did sound that way. He was a little hard to understand, but not as bad as I expected. He wanted to know about our KC Reunion. I told him that I drank all his whiskey and he said I was the man to do it. So, he still has his sense of humor. He is getting your cards. He also said that if he doesn't fall any more that he would be getting out of the nursing center at the end of next week. He promised to call me when he gets out. We only talked about 3 or 4 minutes and he hung up. I'll keep y'all posted. Remember him in your prayers. Y'all take care of yourself and each other. -Phil Stallings (9/29/16) I just now talked to Rusty on the phone. He is still in Chandler Nursing Center. His voice sounded much stronger this morning. Still slurring his words a little, but sounded good. He was laughing and sounded in good spirits .... the "old" Rusty. I told him that all his Kansas City girls were missing him and he got a big kick out of that. -Phil Stallings (10/26/16) Having lunch with him - he is home now - alert but little slow getting around. -Gary Mackie (12/7/16) Just found out Rusty fell and broke arm and banged his head. He is at East Tex Rehab outside Tyler. Cant find anything else other than is kinda rough going for him. Will let you know if hear anything else. -Gary Mackie (1/16/17) Only information I have on Rusty is that he is in a nursing home. But, I haven't been able to find out where. I've tried to get his son on the phone, but he won't answer and does not reply to my voice mails -Phil Stallings (6/24/17) Was just told that Rusty passed away the 26th Dec - no funeral. He had fallen again and again - was in hospice. That's all info I have. -Gary Mackie (1/3/18) Damn! I'm sorry to hear that. He was a good friend.
