RON HECKMAN 1974 - 1986 PILOT DEN SON OF PILOT WARREN HECKMAN Please be advised, Ron Heckman will be retiring from Continental Air Lines. He will be coming in to Denver from Houston on Saturday, June 1st arriving DIA at 1231 PM local time. A surprise gate party is being planned. It'd sure be nice if his friends living in the Denver area could be at the airport to greet him and congratulate him for the occasion. Best Wishes, -Ace Avakian (5/30/02) Warren Heckman is the father of Ron Heckman, another Frontier/Continental pilot. Ron used to fly for me years ago when I had a small FBO. Like, Warren, he is a great aviator in his own right. Not long before Frontier's demise, Ron had a motorcycle accident and lost his left leg below the knee. He was able to come back from that and proved once again his aeronautical skills using a prosthesis. He became skilled at racquet ball and could jog as well. He hardly limped with his "new" foot. -Billy Walker (10/18/04) Any news on Ronnie Heckman who flew for Frontier? He lost part of his foot in a motorcycle accident and fought so hard to get his license back. His father, Warren, also flew for Frontier. Ronnie and my husband went to East HS together in Denver graduating 1962. They shared some good times on their motorcycles, growing up in that neighborhood around City Park. -Rosie VanEpps (8/29/09) R N HECKMAN Emp# 12132 Address in Aurora CO per the Nov 1984 FL Roster. Pilot seniority date of 7/1/74 per the 9/1/86 FL/ALPA Seniority List. -Jake Lamkins (7/7/15) I spoke with Warren a while back. He is still in the Phoenix area. We flew t'gether many times at good ol' Frontier. We worked t'gether a lot with America West. Warren learned to fly at Plains Airways (my father's CPTP school in Laramie). Warren was totally def in his left ear, but it didn't seem to trouble him 'tall. Warren's son, Ron, flew with me some as well. Ron lost a leg (below the knee) in a motorcycle accident. He worked his way back into the cockpit. I lost track of Ron some years back. I will try to call Warren & Barb and holler back acha! -Billy Walker (6/20/17) Holy Shit! Warren had Gone West in March at 97. His son, Ron, YESTERDAY!!! Ron had recently been hit by a car. Damn! Reminded me of Vic David's demise... -Billy Walker (6/20/17) FLacebook and FL Club FLight West: The Heckmans I just confirmed that pilots Warren Heckman flew west on Mar 1, 2017, age 96, and that his son pilot Ron Heckman flew west Jun 19, 2017, age 73. -Jake Lamkins (6/21/17) Prayers for his family and friends -Trish Swanson-Hawk (6/21/17) Sorry to hear this. Thoughts and prayers to the family. -Tom Robertson (6/22/17) I took care of Ronald a few days before he died and found him to be a very gentle and gracious man. I wish I would have had the opportunity to know him when he was well. -Laura Roiger (6/23/17) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Ron Heckman DEN pilot Ron Heckman's memorial webpage is posted at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Ron_Heckman.html Still need a full obituary and photo for Ron. -Jake Lamkins (7/11/17) I have some wonderful memories of Ron. I had been flying with Ron's father, Warren, at good ol' Frontier Airlines. Warren had learned to fly in my father's Civilian Pilot Training school, Laramie, WY., during WWII. I loved flying with Warren. We'd later work together at America West Airlines in the pilot training program there. Through Warren I came to know Ron. Ron worked for me at a small fixed base operation I owned in Denver. From there Ron went with Frontier as a pilot August 1, 1974. Like his father, Ron proved to be a respected pilot for his demeanor and smoothness. Ron was later injured in a motorcycle accident causing the loss of a leg below the knee. Undaunted, Ron would overcome this and return to the flight deck retiring from Continental in 2002. The irony would be his having Gone West within three months of his father. Warren was 96. Ron just 73. I miss them both! -Billy Walker (7/7/18)
