RON CALLAN 1964 - 1966 PILOT GSW Ed Landrum went to Braniff in 1966, then to Piedmont. First met Ed at the Greenwood, MS airport in '62 when we were both "puppy pilots". Heard that he developed lung cancer (although he didn't smoke). Bill Hill went to Continental in 1966 and went up high in management in a short time. He didn't enjoy too much friendship from the rank and file pilots. He and Ron Callan, who left Central the same time made captain within a year. Ron Callan died of cancer years ago. -Clyde Hart (7/10/01) Tried to find some info at the Social Security Death Index on Ron Callan. There was nothing on Ron or Ronald but there are four R Callan. Which do you think it might be, if any? R CALLAN 19 Nov 1949 15 Sep 1989 (PE) (none specified) 048-42-7121 Connecticut R CALLAN 21 Dec 1940 Feb 1989 (not specified) (none specified) 465-64-9421 Texas R CALLAN 18 Jan 1967 Dec 1991 (not specified) (none specified) 470-02-3656 Minnesota R CALLAN 19 May 1937 Nov 1991 93702 (Fresno, Fresno, CA) (none specified) 545-48-2326 California I suspect the 2nd one down with a Texas SSN. -Jake Lamkins (7/10/01) Just "waggin' it", I'd guess it'd be the one born in 1940 and died in 1989. After he left CAL I heard he worked as an A&E at AAL in GSW/DFW. -Clyde Hart (7/10/01) You asked me several years ago about Ron Callan. He left CEN about 1966 and went to Continental. He was hired in early 1964 about the same class as Ed Landrum. Ron developed cancer and was retired medically from CAL and hired by American as a maintenance individual in DFW. I believe he died in 1982 or thereabouts, but he really deserves to be in the CEN obtis, as did Ed Landrum. -Clyde Hart (4/24/05) He's not on the FL ALPA Roster nor the Feb 1963 CN Pilot Domiciles List. RON CALLAN GSW first officer per the Oct 1964 CN Pilot Domiciles List. He is not on the Oct 1967 FL-CN/ALPA Seniority List. He must have left in 1966 as Clyde says. Unable to pin down any birth or death dates via a web search and FLiles search. -Jake Lamkins (4/20/15) FLacebook - FL Club GSW pilot Ron Callan's memorial webpage has been upgraded: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Ron_Callan.html Not much info on Ron - please post anything you have. -Jake Lamkins (4/23/15)
