ROGER UTSUNOMIYA 1977 - 1985 STATION AGENT, TICKET COUNTER AGENT FMN DEN LAX I was told by Quisenberry that Roger Utsinomy (DENTT) also known as Ruts died in '95. -Don Carlson (4/7/99) He was working as a supervisor at Tri-Star Airlines in Las Vegas. Apparently got sick due to HIV infection. Was gone from work for a very short period of time and then died. He was very private in his personnal life. All I know is from friends who knew him in LAS. -Ed Quisenberry (4/10/99) Roger was a tall guy, over 6", of oriental heritage who worked DENTT when I met him in 1982. He was a very conscientious worker and transferred to LAX when we started flying into there. I recently ran across a business card of his which shows he was pursuing an acting career while in LAX. -Jake Lamkins (7/6/99) LAX is where I learned to work the ticket counter, and Roger Utsunomiya was our defacto teacher. Roger use to write everything in reverse. You would have to hold his notes up to a mirror to read them. I stayed in contact with Roger for quite a while and then I lost contact with him. I was shocked to learn of his death. Thanks for reminding me. -Kevin Porreco (10-24-01) I found a postcard from Roger in an old file from 1987. It written in the reverse style Kevin mentioned. It's posted at Roger's memorial webpage. He mentions how hard he is working on an acting career. -Jake Lamkins (1/1/05) R Y UTSUNOMIYA Ticket agent seniority date of 4/30/77 per the 7/1/84 FL/ALEA Seniority List. He is not on the 1/1/86 list. -Jake Lamkins (12/16/12) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: DEN LAX ticket counter agent Roger Utsunomiya's memorial webpage has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Roger_Utsunomiya.html Five items added including a photo. Still need an obituary for Roger. -Jake Lamkins (12/18/12) What a great friend Roger was and is missed. -Jan Lefler (12/18/12) He really was so fun to work with. -Penny Tritthart (12/18/12) I want you to know that I admire all the effort that you put into all things Frontier. Thank you. I was with Frontier from May, 1980 till the last day, bouncing all over: Denver Reservations, Stapleton Gates and Counter, back to Res, then chose LAX (my then husband took a job in LA), back to Denver ramp, then Gates and Counter. In that six years, I enjoyed most of the people I worked with, some more than others, some less. Roger Utsunomiya was a first class person, honest, helpful, intelligent, funny, always a gentleman. I missed working with him when I returned to Colorado. Cathy Neill - (Now using my birth name) aka Catherine Rapp - 1980 aka Catherine Kavanaugh - 1982 - 1988 -Cathy Neill (1/5/13) I first met Roger in Farmington. He introduced himself and said "My friends just call me Utsunomiya". So much fun and a good friend on top of that. -Debbie Ito Spencer (1/6/13) Here is a photo from my wedding on June 26, 1982. All of the people in the photo are people that I had worked with at Frontier Airlines at one time or another. I got a card from Roger in 1987 with his backward handwritinf. He was quite a fellow and flew west way too soon. (7/16/15) Paula Trustdorf in the center. Roger never missed an opportunity to make fun of my southern accent. Every time I say yellow (yellow boarding pass) or window (window or isle seat) I think of him. I loved him too. -Barbara Whittington Mitchell (7/16/15) I think the guy on the left was named Dan....someone help!!! I miss Roger so much - remember his backward handwriting? Lol he was so much fun!
