ROD SMITH 1966 - 1983 PILOT DEN It is with great sadness, during this period of national sadness, I am letting you know that Rod Smith lost his battle with cancer during the night. He had just finished intense radiation and chemo treatments but could not bounce back from this. He and Bob (Reisig) are in a better place with no more suffering and hopefully they are having a great reunion with all the others that have gone before. -Joanne Griffin (12/16/12) RODNEY R SMITH Member # 0292359 DOB 06/14/36 DOH 01/01/66 RT 10/22/83 per FL ALPA Roster. He was a great pilot, as well as a great man. I flew a lot of trips with him and used to see he and Diane when I went to PHX reunion. -Bonnie Dahl (12/23/12) Here's a photo of Rod and Bob (Reisig) fishing in Saguache that you can put on Rod's memorial page. Another of four of us (Rod, Diane, Bob and I) in Steamboat. Rod and I go back a long way. We both grew up in Gunnison where he harassed his sister and I over the years. We caught up with each other when we both ended up at FAL in the 60's. His wife, Diane, and I were in the same "Stew" class. They ended up getting married and they played a part in getting Bob and I together. After that the four of us were close and spent a lot of our time, away from the job, together. So many great memories!! -Joanne Griffin (11/24/12) I am still reeling from Rodney's death. Will send off some more photos later. Here is one of the last one taken of us in Steamboat Springs this summer in August 2012. Thank you for the memory site, it is wonderful and I will add many more later. -Diane Smith (12/29/12) Here is another pic of us in our early years. 1969~~What a handsome man !!! Diane Smith (1/5/13)
