ROD DOWNEY 1966 - 1986 STATION AGENT OKC FYV LIT FSM DEN Rod transferred from OKC to FYV then went to LIT for about 6 months and then FSM before FYV closed in 1982. Tall rangy guy who bought a chicken farm in Hazel Valley. He and I carpooled some in the 70s when I had my little house on Wallin Mt. Road. His grandson went to school with my daughter JJ. He took home station furlough when FSM closed but worked some temp jobs in DEN. -Jake Lamkins (2/8/05) Rod talked about himself quite a bit at the Frontier luncheon He's retired but still has 150 acres place near Whitehouse community near Hazel Valley. Has been a volunteer fireman at Whitehouse for 20 years and is a captain now. He was in the hospital having his gall bladder removed awhile back. Rod said he took furlough in 1982 when FSM cut back then came back for temporary jobs in 1983 and afterwards in DEN. Rod, seniority date of 5/2/66, was shown on FUR on the 1//1/86 seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (5/29/07) Old FARTS met Feb 23, 2016, 12:55 - 2:00 pm Paul Farris, Rod Downey and I had a good visit. Rod brought us up to date to all the changes in his life. He sold his chicken farm and moved to Bella Vista and bought a home on a lot to be near his son. He just got back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and will leave soon for Missouri and New Mexico. He bought a new pickup truck for his travels. -Jake Lamkins (2/23/16) Wardney Downey passed away 2/13/19 Jake, As one of dad's friends I write to let you know he passed away last week on February 13th. He passed peacefully in his sleep, due to heart failure. Remembrance and Celebration service is planned for Friday March 1st, 6:00 pm at the Whole Hog BBQ restaurant in Bentonville. -Rod Downey (His son) (2/19/19) I'm shocked and sorry to hear this. He used to come to our monthly Frontier Airlines luncheons but had not been since May 2017 and we had wondered about him. Had he been ill? I have not seen an obituary. Rod is not on FUR on the Dec 1981 station agents seniority list but he is shown on FUR on the Feb 1982 list through the Jan 1986 list. He is not on the Jul 1986 list because the four year FUR limit had passed.
