Rich passed from this life on 16 February 2005. He waits for us now in the Summerlands, where he will be joined by his wife and soul mate Sue, his daughters Stacy, Rachel, Jackie and Katie, and sons David and Chuck. Rich's motto was: "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming.... Wow!! What a ride!!" For all who knew him and want to join us in celebrating his life, he will have a party on 26 February at the VFW Post 5517, Hwy. EE, Winfield Missouri, from 5:00pm till we can't laugh and drink no more. In lieu of flowers, he would prefer donations to the Post in care of People's Bank and Trust, PO Box 117, Winfield Missouri 63389 in his name. The party: In Memory of Rich Owens On Tuesday, Feb. 16th, Rich went to wait for me in the Summerlands. He left behind a loving family and many many friends. He does not want a traditional wake and funeral... he wants a party. Please join us in celebrating his life! Saturday, February 26 VFW Post 5517 Hwy. EE Winfield MO 5 p.m. till we're too tired to laugh any more If you want to bring a covered dish, it will be appreciated, but it's not necessary. Do not bring tears... bring laughter and good memories, and share them! We hope to see you, his friends -- there. -Sue Owens (2/17/05) I worked with Rich at Frontier til I left STL in 1970. He was a great guy! I'm really sorry I can't be there to celebrate his life. I'll toast him and his family & friends from here. We have obituary pages at our Frontier Airlines websites. If you can email a photo, I'll set Rich up in cyberspace. -Jake Lamkins (2/18/05) Thanks for writing. I'll try to find you a photo. He IS a great guy. In our sig line below are our web pages. There are some pix of him and us there. Feel free to grab one, or let me know and I'll send you a different one. Pix & text from Sue's website: My husband Rich is disabled because of a serious heart condition. I am a college student. Between the two of us, we have six children, one cat, four birds, a buncha fish, and a guinea pig. He used to be the web page master around these parts, but I've sort of taken over for him. Me and the hubster, at a Halloween party, dressed as pseudo bikers! No date. Rich holding our baby granddaughter Maddy (1998). -Sue Owens (2/18/05) Here is a good pic of Rich that my sister took last summer at her place. -Sue Owens (2/19/05) I finally collected myself to begin a web page for Rich. Thanks for being his friend. I miss him something awful. Making that page helped a little, glad you think it's okay. I'll add more pix later, just need to scan some. The scanner is hooked to Rich's computer and I have never used that model or its software, so this should be interesting, to say the least. I'm also looking into suing the hosp. that killed him. It seems that they majorly screwed up the code and left him w/o an airway for almost an hr. -- he died from brain damage from lack of oxygen, NOT from a heart attack. Bastards. -Sue Owens (3/12/05) FLacebook re Frontier's last day: My late husband, Rich Owens, was a customer service sup at Lambert. When he heard, he handed out the paychecks and told everyone that they needed to cash them now because if they waited they might not be cashable. -Sue Evans (10/8/12) Dear Old Goat, you left 9 years ago today. You know how I always hated to admit when you were right, but you were. I did get happy again. Someday we'll meet again. You better be saving me that seat up close to the fire like you promised. FandA, your Seahag. -Sue Evans (2/16/14) Judith R Archer I remember the shock of it all: you've overcome a lot, and with grace and courage. (2/16/14) Thank you, Judith. It was surely the worst of times. Rich always said that there was a song for everything. And the one here is "I get by with a little help from my friends." Thank you for all that you did..... and said. -Sue Evans (2/16/14) Glad it helped..I still remember, I was standing out on my front porch... in shock..and free-stylin'....it was just so totally out of the blue. I'm glad you left your heart open. -Judith R Archer (2/16/14) That part was easy because of Rich. :~) -Sue Evans (2/16/14) R E OWENS Emp# 10058 DOH and station agent seniority date of 9/14/69 DOB 8/16/49 per the 10/31/86 FL/ALEA Seniority List. -Jake Lamkins (3/18/14) FLacebook - FL Club STL station agent Rich Owens' memorial webpage has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Rich_Owens.html Moved it to a non-ad site and added an item. -Jake Lamkins (3/21/14) I always liked working with Rich at STL station. I will never forget a time we were unloading a 737 and I saw a piece of freight coming out the door that weighed 250 lbs. Before I could get over to help with it Rich had it off the belt and onto the freight cart. Rich laughed it off and quipped something like "it's all in the swing". RIP Rich. -Chuck Tisckos (3/21/14)
