ORA NESTELROAD 1961 - 1986 STATION AGENT ICT AIR LINE EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION, INTERNATIONAL (ALPA/AFL-CIO) WELCOME NEW CHAIRMEN We welcome you to the Master Executive Council. In particular, I'd like to salute those who are serving for the first time - Al Martenson (44), Don Christensen (47), Walt Hatfield (48) Martin Gulikers (71), and Jake Lamkins (74). I guess they are well aware they succeed some very capable union reps, but I'm also confident they'll do an outstanding job. Helping them along will be five officers who were re-elected: Carolyn Boiler (46), Robb Ogden (70), Ora Nestelroad (72), Frank Monheiser (73) and myself (45). At our first MEC meeting, which should be scheduled soon, we'll elect a Master Chairman and a Vice Chairman for this 1978-81 period. Thanks to the outgoing officers for all their help and support over the years. Larry Williams, Chairman FL/ALEA MEC -NEWSLETTER, FRONTIER AIRLINES MEC (April, 1978) "IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MYTH that labor unions are going down the drain," ALEA President VictorJ. Herbert (at speaker's rostrum) told the FL/ALEA chairmen. "They are very much alive, especially in the professional area where you people operate and that is because you need good representation." Herbert then reviewed union activity and pointed out that at least two highly capable staff members (Scott and Casey) are former Frontier employees. From left, those in attendance were Martin Gulikers of Council 71, WaIt Hatfield-48, Carolyn BolIer-46, Howard Stewart-73c, Robb Odgen-70, ALEA's Alan Loiben and Jack Casey, Larry Williams-45, Frank Monheiser-73, Ora Nestelroad-72, Al Martenson-44, W. C. Lamkins-74, and Don Christiansen-47. In many ways the first three months of 1978 were the most important of the entire year and for the two following years, as well. This was when thousands of members at hundreds of locations on eight different air lines cast mail ballots for the officers who will lead their councils through March, 1981. The newly elected chairmen listed below comprise ALEA's top governing body, the Board of Directors, and they form the Master Executive Council on each air line. These "MEC's" are now in the process of electing their own chairmen. Lamkins -THE AIR LINE EMPLOYEE (July/August, 1978) I rcvd a Christmas card from Norma Nestleroad, Ora's wife, she adv me that Ora passed away Aug 12,2000, he had brain cancer and went very quickly................he was a great friend, good fellow employee, and a very good union rep. -Frank Monheiser (12/28/00) Sorry to hear about Ora. I'll post it at the Club and make a webpage for him. -Jake Lamkins (12/28/00) Posted at FL Club (12/28/00) ICT agent Ora Nestleroad is dead. Just got word that Ora died of brain cancer last August 12 in ICT. I couldn't find any info on Ora at the Social Security Death Index. Do you know how old he was? Maybe you can give me some biographical info for his webpage such as time at FL, where he worked, etc. Thanks, -Jake Lamkins (12/28/00) I'm sorry to hear this. I worked with Ora for a time, I think in Lincoln. He was a nice guy. -Darrell Robson (12/28/00) I am so very shocked. I received a nice letter from Ora in the summer, he mentioned nothing. Normally we exchange Christmas Cards, but I was slow this year, and I did not hear from him. I had a little stack of items to send to him, including vol 1 of the newsletter. Ora was always intent on having things be proper for the agents. He worked long and hard to insure this. -Dennis Casadoro (12/31/00) Jake, Where did you get your info on Ora. I about fell out of my chair, and I have side rails. I figured as preserved as Ora was, he would live to be 150! I tried to search the ICT Eagle-Beacon, and could not come up with an Obit. I was just about to write my belated xmas card to him too. Maybe I will anyway, and see if his wife Norma, will respond. -Dennis Casadoro (12/31/00) Frank Monheiser sent me an e-mail mentioning that he received a card from Ora's wife saying he died 8/12/00 of brain cancer. If you find an obituary, send it to me for his webpage. -Jake Lamkins (01/01/01) Doyle, Did you, by chance, see an obituary for Ora Nestleroad last August when he died? If so, can you send me a copy? Thanks, -Jake Lamkins (1/7/01) Jake, I didn't know that Ora had died. I was in the hospital in Aug myself. I will find out what I can and let you know. -Doyle Osborn (1/8/01) Jake I have a call into Mrs. Nestleroad to get some info for you if I can. -Doyle Osborn (1/9/01) I didn't hear from Mrs. Nestleroad but Curtis Armsbruster called me back and he didn't know about Ora death. I haven't found anybody at the airport or the old FL people who knew about his death. Curtis and Ora were both hired on 3/6/61 at MCI where they took their training. Both chose ICT as the place they wanted to work. He was with Central and when they merged with FL he stayed in ICT. The only place he ever worked. Wish I could give you more. If I hear anything else I will let you know. -Doyle Osborn (1/9/01) Looks like we've been misspelling Ora's last name: NORMA VIRGINIA NESTELROAD WICHITA KS Age 68 found at US Search The SSDI shows two Ora Nestelroads but the dates are wrong. They show years of death as 1967 and 1982. -Jake Lamkins (6/8/03) Ora L. Nestelroad 1939 S. Parkwood Wichita KS 67218 -ESOP List (6/10/03) To Doyle, Dennis & Frank, I just updated Ora's website with a photo I found of him. Did any of you ever locate an obituary or any other info on his death? Thanks, -Jake Lamkins (7/6/03) I have called Ora's wife two or three times to get info on him but she will not return the calls. The only thing I have been able to come up with that he died from a brain tumor. Wish I could be of more help to you. -Doyle Osborn (7/7/03) I have more or less lost my ties to ICT and I checked the obits in the Eagle, and there is something archived but I do not have access to that area. I too may have a picture of him, some where in a box. -Dennis Casadoro (7/7/03) OBITUARY Nestleroad, Ora Lyle Jr., 66, retired Frontier Airlines ticket agent and Kansas Revenue Service tax preparer, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000. I went into the ICT Eagle newapapers' archives and found Ora's obituary. They misspelled the name too. -Jake Lamkins (7/8/03) Found this pic in a box. Ora built counter tops all the way around OPS and the built-in Cabinets out of plywood. Notice the TSL forms in the slots, and the W/B forms. Ora was a well organized man! -Dennis Casadoro (12/6/05) Thanks for the photos, Dennis. I'll put the ops desk on Ora's webpage. Jake (12/7/05) My name is Janet (Nestelroad) Graebner. I am Ora Nestelroad's daughter. I just found your site about my dad. It was good to see he was respected and missed by others. Thank you. -Janet Graebner (2/25/08) Hi Janet, I'm glad you like Ora's memorial webpage. I knew your dad many years and worked with him in union work at ALEA.
