I was with FL from 1959 to shutdown. I started in FMN, transferred to LNK in 1964 and transferred to OKC in 1973. I enjoy the stories very much and have thought about sending some of mine but haven't done so yeat. Yours truly, -Oliver D. Hobbs Sometimes known as "Okie" or "Olie". My father "Oliver Hobbs, OKIE" worked for Frontier from 1959-1986, now both of my brothers work for the "New Frontier" and I am a flight attendant with Chautauqua, formerly with TWA. -Jason Hobbs (4/16/09) Ollie Hobbs started his FAL career in 1959 . He and I worked together in LNK before he transferred to OKC and we were both graduates of The National School Of Aeronautics in MKC. -Jeff Mills (2/18/10) The time seems to get away from me so fast these days . I keep telling everyone that I need to get a job just so I will know when my days off are supposed to be . Imagine my surprise when I saw my name in the fall 2009 edition. I have often thought of writing the complete story of what happened and send it to you but am not sure if you would want it or if it would be too long to print. If this is a possibility let me know and I will write it and send it to you. Also I remember a lot of funny stories that happened during my 27 years with Frontier. Especially the early years. I worked at Farmington, N M. (FMN) from 1959 to 1964 . I then bid out to Lincoln, Nebraska (LNK) till 1973 . From there I bid to Oklahoma City ,OK. (OKC) , till the end. Anyone that went through FMN would know me as "OKIE" ,and there is a story behind that also. In LNK and OKC ", I was known as "OLIE ". When they were being nice. I really enjoy reading the stories and keeping up on the "OLD FRONTIER GANG" . I am now retired and trying to live on my little F.A.L. retirement and Social Security . Just to let you know how Frontier my family was and is I have 3 sons all working for the New Frontier Airlines. My oldest son, Erick is a supervisor in OKC . My second son, Darrin is working the ramp in DFW . And my youngest son, Jason is a flight attendant . Well I better close this and get it off so I will not miss any of my Frontier News . Yours Truly, -Okie Hobbs P.S. Please let me know if you can use any of the stories from the early days. (3/15/10) Okie, Got your check and note today. I'm always looking for stories from FL days. Email them to me if you want. I'm also sending you an invite to the online FL Club. There's also a FL group at Facebook. Thanks for your support. Jake Lamkins (3/15/10) Jake , sorry it took so long too get back to you . I have been thinking of Captain Aden lately and some of the crazy things he did . Here is just one of them. If you were ever in FMN in the late 50s or early 60s you will remember that there was only a 4 ft. fence with gates in it to let the passengers on board the planes. Well one day Captain Aden flew into FMN and while I was parking him I noticed something strange but was too busy giving parking signals to realize what it was. I got him parked and gave him the cut off engines signal and when I looked up he had rolled back the cockpit window and was sticking his head out. He had on a World War I flying cap, complete with goggles and white silk scarf. He raised up the goggles and hollered "Is this FMN or am I lost again ?". There was about 30 pasengers on the other side of the fence from me waiting to get on his plane. I did not know wheather to S--T or go blind. As it turned out they took it as funny and none of them cancelled their flight. THOSE WERE THE DAYS WHEN THE AIRLINES WERE FUN. I hope you can use this and sorry again about the timing . I have a lot more stories if you think they might be publishable. -Okie Hobbs (8/11/10) Thanks for the story, Okie! -Jake Lamkins (8/12/10) Note with renewal: Still working on the story I promised you. In the mentime, I wanted to make sure my subscription did not expire. Love reading stories from the "old" F.A.L. employees, like the one from Jeff Mills. I worked with Jeff In LNK and our families have been friends for years. And, boy, could I tell some stories there but since I still want to remain friends, I won't tell them. LOL! I still have a bunch of FAL stories and I will try to send more of them to you if you want them. Yours truly. Okie Hobbs (11/17/10) Got your note today. Thanks for your support. Send any and all stories you have. Would help me if they're typewritten. Makes it easier to convert to the computer. If I can be half the man he was then I will make it through this life with flying colors. I love you dad Tyra and I miss you and we rejoice that you are made whole again. So sorry to hear this, Erick. My condolences to you and the family. Feel free to post it on FLacebook. I'll put him in my queue for a memorial webpage.
