LYNN POPE 1954 - 1970 STATION AGENT VEL GJT L. M. POPE Station agent seniority date of 9-20-54 per the 3/1/62 FL/ALEA Seniority List. The SSDI is in error showing Lynn's death in 1971. Both the obituary and tombstone show his death in 1970. -Jake Lamkins (12/26/12) Sticky note with news articles about Lynn: I found this article in my brother's HS Annual. -Maurine Cook (12/26/12) Thank you for the packet I received today. I especially appreciate the items about Lynn Pope. I did not have him in my files but will now be building a memorial website for him. Mo, once again, keeps the Frontier Spirit alive. -Jake Lamkins (12/26/12) So glad that there was something there that you could find useful. I surely didn't know if anything would be of interest. I guess you never know what you will find when going through another "man's treasures". Thanks for letting me know. -Maurine Cook (12/26/12) L. M. POPE VEL station agent per Nov 1955 FL Roster. --------------------------- L. M. I did not have Lynn in my files before receiving it. Maurine found it in Mo's HS annual. It's almost like Mo is still reaching out to the FLamily. I'm so pleased to give Lynn the belated recognition he deserves. Thanks, Mo! And Maurine too. -Jake Lamkins (12/27/12) I don't remember Lynn, but must have met him as I flew in and out of both VEL and GJT a lot when I was a new-hire in 67 based out of SLC. Sad that he was taken so early and ironic that he was killed in a car wreck after having survived the Normandy landings - being in the 1st wave - receiving Purple Hearts, Bronze Stars and THREE Silver Stars! We owe him much more than what has been bestowed to his memory. -BillyWalker (12/27/12) One of Lynn's pallbearers was Dean Reynolds who was also a SA in VEL. -Geoff Morneau (12/28/12)
