Subject:  Missing from maintenance gone west
I have noticed that there is one of the PHX mechanics who is not on the gone west lists  
His name is Lloyd Fox and he was killed in a car accident on his way to Den to work after they closed the PHX base. 
This was in Sep of 1982. 
Perhaps this can be added in future issues. 
I was married to him for a very short time prior to this but thats another story  Thanks for all u do.

I'm surprised Ken Schultz missed him.
He was so thorough.
I have nothing on Lloyd in my files.
Do you recall any dates of when it happened or when Lloyd started with FL?
Any info at all would be helpful.

Well, the best I can do is Mid Sep of 82.
They cut maintenance out of PHX in June and he took a LOA and went to Africa for 2 months to work for Nairobi Air or someone who had 737s. 
All I can think is if any of the PHX maintenance guys could help. 
If no luck by Nov I will undoubtably see some of the guys at the PHX picnic. 
I know he worked swings so I dont think he had a lot of seniority.
I know he didnt have as much as me.  No one did  ha...

I have a report on the death of PHX DEN aircraft mechanic Lloyd Fox around Sep 1982.
He was killed in a car wreck enroute to work at DEN.
He is not on Ken Schultz database or in my files.
Does anyone have any info on Lloyd?

My father worked with him in the 80s.  Here is what he had to say:
"I worked with him in Phoenix, and yes, he was killed in a car crash in 1980.  
He suffered from narcolepsy and he went to sleep while driving his car and kissed a tree at around 70 MPH.  
The tree was unforgiving.  His burial was in Dyersburg, TN."

I also worked with LLoyd in PHX. I was a cleaner. Always smoked a pipe. 
I recall him saying he was a pilot for PRINAIR flying de Havilland Herons out of SJU, prior to working with us.

Erwin is clear across TN from Dyersburg but may be the right one.
Cannot find him at SSDI.

The info on the picture is correct. 
He did have narcolepsy and that is why he had to quit flying.  
It was a very bitter thing for him and I have always wondered if he didnt drive himself into that tree.

Heard he went to HP after the FL fall.
