LINDA CASEY STARKEY HAMALA 1966 - 1986 RESERVATIONS AGENT, TICKET COUNTER AGENT, SENIOR TICKET COUNTER AGENT DEN PHX JAC WIFE OF DEN STATION AGENT JACK CASEY Posted at the FL Club: Another new member Linda (Casey) Hamala has joined us. She was a DEN ticket counter agent. Welcome aboard, Linda! What have you been doing since FL? -Jake Lamkins (3/21/06) HI TO ALL. HARD TO BELIEVE IT HAS BEEN 20 YEARS. I HAVE BEEN AN LPN SINCE 1987. PRESENTLY I AM RUNNING MY OWN SMALL BUSINESS TRAINING FOLKS WHO WANT TO BE CAREGIVERS FOR THE SENIORS WHO LIVE IN ASSISTED LIVING HOMES AND FACILITIES. THESE CAREGIVERS NEED TO BE CERTIFIED BY A STATE APPROVED TRAINING PROGRAM AND I AM ONE. I LOVE IT AND LOVE HAVING FREEDOM TO CHOOSE MY OWN HOURS. HAVE BEEN LIVING IN CAMP VERDE ARIZONA FOR 8 YEARS. BEEN TO MOST OF THE DEN REUNIONS AND MOST OF THE PHX ONES. HOPE TO HEAR FROM SOME OF YOU ROWDIES OUT THERE. -LINDA CASEY HAMALA (3/22/06) FL Club post about the shutdown I was doing summer temp in JAC, working 6a to 2p. It was a real misty before sunup day and as I was getting ready the phone rang. It was Alice Georges, the other tca. She said "Are you coming to work?" I replied "am I late? Did we have a power outage?" She said "Turn on the TV. I did and there it was. I don't think any of us had the foggiest idea that was in the works. We had been overselling all the flights all summer we had been ordering our ua uniforms. We all went down and filed for unemployment on the same day ruining that lady's day for sure. I wanted to stay in JAC in the worst way but there was nothing to do that paid anything. I called Larry Baker in PHX and he told me a bunch of them had found a vocational school and a federal program to pay the tuition. He told me it had a nursing program, so I headed south and have been a nurse now for 20 years and never gotten laid off due to a bankruptcy. Once we all went and applied at Southwest for reservations. They treated us like crap and didn't hire one of us. I didn't go to the airport for almost a year and when I did and saw our airplanes and eq with CO's logo I started to cry, not sad tears but mad tears. I am still in Az up north of PHX about 60 miles.Planning on attending Ginger's picnic this fall. -Linda Casey Hamala (8/28/08) L CASEY TCA seniority date of 10/19/67, emp# 05006, on the 1/1/74 FL/ALEA seniority list. L J STARKEY TCA seniority date of 8/8/66, emp# 05006, on the 7/1/84 and 1/1/86 seniority lists. -Jake Lamkins (8/28/08) Howard Stewart and I worked 2-10 ticket counter in DEN. I was brand new and one evening Howard decided he would teach me how to check bags correctly. He supervised and gave advice to each and every bag that was tagged and put on the belt by me all evening. I know not to put the tag in the middle of the handle because it might get dislodged. I know not to use ink on the write-on tags as the sweat from hands will smear the destination and on and on. The next day when RJ Burt heard about this he got a good laugh but was concerned that I did all the heavy lifting. I told him I could pick up more that Howie.. so all was ok. He used to tell me when we were having a bad evening"Tomorrow is another day.Scarlett" When Gone With The Wind came out newly restored Howie and I went to see it and recited all the lines. I still miss him -Linda Hamala (7/30/09) Donors for flight attendant Shari Steadman's expenses Thought you might like to put a list in the next newsletter of the wonderful FLamily members who sent donations to the Sharon Steadman Nicholas fund. As of today (Sept. 6) we have donations of $485. I sent $250 to the Beresford, SD funeral home for the cemetery permit and earth removal for the burial, and $100 to the Utah funeral home to help with expenses for her service at the VA Hospital. There is a monument next to Sharon's parents' graves with Sharon's name and birthdate on it. The funeral home I called handled her parents funerals and they had bought a stone for her. There were no arrangements made for burial or funeral but it does prove that she did plan to be buried at "home" in Beresford. The $135 left in the fund will go toward engraving her date of death on her monument. I am so humbled and grateful to the following people who made donations and sent me wonderful notes of condolence: Jake Lamkins, Robert Franklin, Kerry Allen, Roger Borchard, Bev Cummisky, Roger Wallace, Linda Casey Hamala, Ann & Gene McCaleb, Loren Holmgren, Charles Trantham, Leslie Taylor, Richard Rohrmann, Curt Sauber & Linda Lamm. Amounts were anywhere from $10 to $100 and there were wonderful notes and emails but one in particular touched me deeply. I will not name the person who wrote this note but wanted to share some of the words with the FLamily: ".......I believe that all Frontier is a family! I was very touched by your note to Jake Lamkins. I am on unemployment but would like to donate to your cause! Will also keep her husband in my prayers........." I am continually uplifted by the generosity and caring spirit of our Frontier family and will remember each and everyone of you in my prayers. -Dee Curl Martenson (9/6/09) Hi Linda, Just want you to know I just finished Jack's memorial webpage: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Jack_Casey.html Look it over, share with his family and let me know of any changes, errors, additions that may be needed. I've still got the blues, -Jake Lamkins (6/13/13) I know..I have had people ask me why I am going to the services since he is my ex. I just say "You dont know, Jack." Hey, I made a joke. It is wonderful, Jake, and brings back so many memories...we were married from 1968 to 1980.. In fact, when we got married we had to keep it a secret because at that time it was forbidden. -Linda Casey Hamala (6/13/13) L J STARKEY TCA seniority date of 8/8/66, emp# 05006, ORG# 3444-PHX, DOB 8/26/43 DOH and TCA seniority date of 8/8/66 Per the 10/31/86 FL/ALEA seniority list.
