LEW DYMOND 1962 - 1978 PRESIDENT, BOARD OF DIRECTORS DEN It was great working for Lew Dymond (the best president Frontier ever had), Paul Burke, Larry Sills, Ken Smith and Tom Makurat. Some of the sales people I can remember, Dick Cummings (my first sales rep) Paul Glidwell, Jim Pliler, Jerry Bacon. -Herb Schmidt (8/1/05) Re: photo of Lew Dymond milking the cow, I was fortunate to go with him and others including, Ed Gerhardt, Vern Carlson after the board of directors meeting in Billings in July 1964. We spent one day and night at the ranch in Pray, Mt (which is just north of the entrance to Yellowstone National Park) and then two days at Jenny Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park. I guess it was my reward for a great board meeting in Billings. I still have the thank you letters from Lew Dymond, Ed Gerhardt, Bill Mitchell, Ken Smith reference the meeting. -Herb Schmidt (9/9/05) Dymond always came across as a very urbane man so the cow milking photo is great. -Jake Lamkins (9/9/05) Posted at the FL Club: Lew Dymond was FL's 4th president, 1962-69. Afterwards he continued on the Board of Directors until 1978 when he moved to MIA. Lew's public persona was that of a sophisticated and urbane man. Herb Schmidt has sent a photo of Lew milking a cow in 1964! I'll upload it to the Club files. -Jake Lamkins (9/9/05) Posted at the FL Club: FL President Lew Dymond died yesterday Thanks to Bill & Barb Monday and John Nordman for sending his obituary: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Lew_DymondObit.jpg The obituary errs in saying Bud Maytag was FL's first president. Maytag was the third president and Dymond was the fourth. See http://FAL-1.tripod.com/FL_Presidents.html Lew, in his way, was as impressive a FL President as Al Feldman was - in my opinion. -Jake Lamkins (7/30/08) Re Lew Dymond, in addition to all of the licenses you mentioned, he also had a dispatchers license and I believe he dispatched for National for a brief period. As you may recall, he resigned because of philosophical differences with the O'Neil brothers and I heard recently it was because he wanted to sell some FAL stock on which he had options. Can you shed any light on this. We all were very fortunate to work for the best airline ever and the best people ever as well! -Ernie Van Winkle, DENDD (10/24/08) Thanks for the additional info on Lew. I have not heard anything about Lew being let go over stock. I think it would have been great to chat with him awhile. -Jake Lamkins (10/24/08) Posted at the FL Club Updated memorial webpage LEW DYMOND 1962 - 1978 PRESIDENT, BOARD OF DIRECTORS DEN http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Lew_Dymond.html 5 items added.
