I'm sorry to hear that. I get the NW Arkansas version of the D-G and it doesn't carry LIT obits. Can you send Leon's to me? Also where all did he work and how long and any other info you have? -Jake Lamkins (12/5/05) I think Leon start in LIT sometime after 1964 and left FL when they pulled out of LIT in think 1984. He was an agent, and senior agent and station union rep I think. This from today Arkansas Democrat. Leon J. Smith, 68 of Mabelvale died Thursday Dec 01,2005. Leon was born Mar 26, 1937, in Fay, Oklahoma, a son of George and Eva Brady Smith. He was a Lutheran, U.S. Air Force Veteran and was the owner of Pat and Lee's #2. He was preceded in death by three brothers George, Bobby and Charles Smith. Leon is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith, three sons Bobby Smith of Mabelvale, Michael Causey of L.R. and Joseph Thompson of N.L.R. There was some more to it But No mention of Central or Frontier. I wasn't sure that was the Leon we had worked with Until I saw the second sons name was Causey . Go www.rollerfuneralhomes.com search for Leon Jackie Smith, if you don't get it that way let me know and I will copy it and fwrd it to you. -Buddy Griffin (12/5/05) I am sure you have heard that Leon Smith passed away, but I'm sending his obit from the paper. Leon hired in at LIT and only went to DEN when all the fun and games of downsize and closing came about. Leo was a good guy - easy to work with and a good agent too. I had not seen him for several years so I have no idea what his health issues were. He had a small eat place over in Little Rock. -Jack Chambers (12/8/05) Leon was a great friend to many many agents - most of whom would not even recognize his name. It was Leon, along with Don Koughn, Fred Krebs and John Scott who put together the merger agreement for the ALEA crafts during the CN/FL merger in 1967. Leon was the CN/ALEA Master Chairman at the time. See the articles linked on Leon's webpage. -Jake Lamkins (12/8/05) My name is Bob Washburn. I started with Central in AMA in 1960, worked there for a couple of years then transferred to LIT and was there for about 20 years. You may remember Leon Smith here in LIT. Last July he fell off a ladder and broke his leg. His leg got an infection, he was in the hospital for months and finally died around the middle of December. -Bob Washburn (1/9/06) L J SMITH Station agent seniority date and DOH of 10/4/65 Emp# 08005, ORG# 3301 DEN DOB 3/26/37 per the Oct 1986 FL/ALEA Seniority List. -Jake Lamkins (11/21/15) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Leon Smith LIT DEN station agent Leon Smith's memorial webpage has been upgraded.
