LEO MALDONADO 1967 - 1986 STATION AGENT, CREW SCHEDULER, SENIOR STATION AGENT MKC DEN LNK OMA Richard Dix called me last night to let me know that Leo Maldonado passed away on 1/24/02. What a shock. He was 58, living in Las Vegas. That was all the info that he had about it. It also occurred to me that a number of years ago, Richard T. Cummins, who at one time was Sales Manager in Omaha, died of cancer. He was living either in Kansas City or St. Louis, don't remember which, and don't know any more about it that that. Makes you feel lucky to be alive. Keep up the good work. -Mary Robertson Harter (1/29/02) Leo Maldonado - Passed Away 1/25/2001, in Las Vegas.. His services are today 1/30... I talked to his wife Karen last night. He had a Stroke age 58... He & I went to work for FL the same day 7/15/67 in MKC.. Lee Davis hired us.... He had numerous jobs with FL over the years, was working for AMR at his passing..... He was at work on Friday morning when he got ill... -Mickey Mitchell (1/30/02) So sorry to hear of Leo's passing. He was a great crew scheduler, and really saved my okoli on check-in's many times. Really nice guy. -Donna Harrison (1/30/02) Really sad news to hear of Leo's flight west. He was such a likeable person and a lot of fun to work with. He was a senior agent in OMA when I worked there. Never will forget the time we dispatched EA98 OMASEA with Leo in the front pit. He didn't tell anybody he was looking for a bag to take off. We buttoned up 98 and turned it out from the gate. Just when she was about to turn onto the runway the passengers heard him banging on the floor from the bag compartment below and 98 turned back to the gate. -Chuck Tisckos, OMAOOFL '73-74 (1/30/02 I was saddened to hear the news too. Whenever I came through OMA operations with Milt Altmark as the F/O, Milt and Leo would launch into a loud good natured argument (or whatever) in Spanish. No one else had any idea what they were talking about but that's probably just as well. He was always pleasant to be around and a honest hard worker, even when he was a crew scheduler! If his family reads this, my best his Wife Karen and to his family. -Jack "Frosty" Frost (1/30/02) I know he was looking for Al Louis when he came out of that pit on EA98..... Leo's wife Karen called me Tuesday evening...we had a long chat...a lot of good memories...Dixie.. -Dick Dixon (1/31/02) Just to let you know that Leo Maldonado, Denver based Crew Scheduling, has gone WEST, infomation is late. Leo went west in April 2002. Please poll the members for additional information. Last time I spoke with Leo was while he was employed by America West in Las Vegas, I belive his wife Karen still resides in LAS. But I'm sure other folks can provide you with additional information. Thanks -Ben Pacheco (2/12/06) When I worked in MKC, Joe Oliver, Leo Maldonado, Mickey Mitchell and I were roommates and what a time we had. There are many stories to be told about that time. -Dave Gabbert (1/24/11) L MALDONADO: Station agent seniority date of 2/15/71, emp# 05443, on the 1/1/74 FL/ALEA Seniority List. He must have lost some time because Mickey Mitchell says they went to work for FL the same day 7/15/67 in MKC. I cannot find him on the 1984 or 1986 ALEA seniority lists. It appears from the SSDI below that Leo's dad passed away six months after him. -Jake Lamkins (3/31/11) RIP Leo. Great guy, and fun to work with. -Chuck Tisckos (5/17/12) Missed the days of tapes, but remember trying to send the TSL on flight 101 out of LNK (GRI-LNK-OMA-DEN-PHX-TUS) and Leo in OMA would be on the hotline screaming for the load. You would still be typing in all the DEN cnx. -Mike White (9/3/12) You are not the only one Leo would be screaming at,"where is the Load report"! I preferred the LNK-DEN flights. I could just sit back and relax! Well, not really, sometimes I had them bugging me! I was "The slowest gun in the West"! So much for a lgacy, right! -Jeff Mills (9/3/12) Leo didn't need the hotline. He talked loud enough that you could hear him from OMA. RIP Leo M -Chuck Tisckos (9/3/12) Still need a pic of Leo for his memorial webpage: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Leo_Maldonado.html -Jake Lamkins (9/3/12) I was really good friends with Leo Maldonado.
