LEE PIRKL 1968 - 1986 WORKLOAD CONTROLLER, BUYER, SUBCONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR DEN My name is Jeff Hix and I would like to know if I could get my father in your club? His name is Jerry E Hix and worked 22 years with old Frontier. I now work for new frontier and have been with them for 5 years now and work with many of the old Frontier employees. Lee Pirkl, Tom Keller, Bill Gregory, Randy Kloltz, Darren Dunnie and Bob Conly just to mention a few of them. I remember spending a lot of time out at the hangers here in Denver. -Jeff Hix (7/12/03) Just to let you know that Lee Pirkl from the Material Division of both the old and new Frontier passed away on December 23, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. He was an integral part of the daily operations thru his knowledge of Rotable and Repairable parts. A hard worker, determined, and always wanted to do the right thing. It was a privilege to know him. -Rod Prentice, DEN-PP (1/26/20) Thanks, Rod, for letting me know. I'll be building him a memorial webpage. Do you have any photos or other info? -Jake Lamkins (1/27/20) I do not have a picture of him. His family had a memorial reception for him on the 18th of January of which I attended. There were only two of us from Frontier as far as I could tell who attended. Lee was kind of a quiet "in the background guy" who just wanted to get the job and done right. Many folks in the Material and Engineering areas will remember him. -Rod Prentice, DEN-PP (1/27/20) Thanks again, Rod. Was there an obituary? -Jake Lamkins (1/27/20) L PIRKL Emp# 07088, DENMP Workload controller DOB 5/4/37 DOH 4/24/68 Per the Dec 1970 Frontier employees roster. Post your remembrances. -Jake Lamkins (1/31/20) Prayers for his family and friends. -Trish Swanson-Hawk (1/31/20) Praying for his loved ones. -Pam Coffman Ellis (1/31/20) Jake, I have researched local newspapers and talked to one individual who knew Lee’s wife and asked him to see if there was an obituary. That was a week ago and have not heard anything back. I suspect there never was one put into a newspaper. I would suggest you just put my comments in the News and leave it at that. At least the word will be out about his death. Rod Prentice (2/3/20) Thanks for your help, Rod. -Jake Lamkins (2/4/20)
