I don't think very many people realized that FL continued for nearly 5 more years. It would be a great contribution to FL's history. I hope all's well with you and you're enjoying retirement as much as I am. There is no story line just a history. However, because of prior commitments, writing, I won't be able to get it started until late summer. -Lee Davis FYI, I located Don. He's VP-Flight Operations for Comair in CVG. He & wife Nancy (also FL) live in Union, KY. His eddress is DOsmundson_8317@fuse.net Lee Davis sorta ran things at FL til the final bankruptcy paperwork was completed and the keys turned over to CO on May 31, 1990. I asked him to write up something about those years and he emailed he would try this summer. -Jake (4/21/04) JAKE......REMEMBER THIS GOOD OLE GUY ? Lee or Verna Davis on check (FL News mailing list) (4/22/05) Remember the time we printed everything; res card, radio log, ticket and freight reports, ATC Direction (ATCR) and others? I can't seem to break the habit. (The letter Lee sent was printed) On page 3 of the Spring 2005 (issue #19) is an article about personnel records. The writer indicates that Continental has quite a few. As I read this it would mean they don't have them all. If an employee was active or on any kind of leave, Continental has that person's file. They were also sent and received the employee files of employees that had left Frontier prior to August 24, 1986 if some part of the required retention period as prescribed by federal law. All files were purged down to employment fact and qualification records. All other files destroyed. I was responsible for the effort and at that time Continental accounted for files, although they sent them to different departments. I still receive several phone calls a year regarding personnel files, most from Continental. I have been able to give enough information that Continental can track them down. My point here is that Continental has your file if the qualifications I have outlined herein are met. -H. Lee Davis (4/22/05) Got your renewal today, Lee, and thanks for your support. Thanks too for the informative note about employee records. I'll print it in the next issue. I began my career with Central in TOP in September, 1966, as a station agent. Don Jansen was our Station Manager. He was later killed in a car accident while leaving the station. In 1970, Del Zimmerman and I transferred to DEN. I was in DEN during the shutdown. I was working for H.L. Davis and Marv Pester in the G.O. On Saturday afternoon, I got a call from Marv to come to the G.O. and get ready to put the airline on the ground. I suspected that this would be the weekend. Around 2300 DEN time, we began making calls to the Station Managers to begin the shutdown, secure the assets, and notify the crews (if they had RON's) to ferry the aircraft back to DEN. A very difficult and sad night. By early Sunday morning, the majority of the fleet was parked around the gates and the hangar. We did our best to keep the media away from the arriving flight crews, but some did get by. After shutdown, I went with Continental to HOU for a year and then was brought onboard with Braniff 2 to manage the MCO station and help with the take over of Florida Express. We all know what happened with Braniff 2. From there, I became the GM of Page Avjet and Signature Flight Support, (a FBO) in MCO for the next five years. I am now with Mears Transportation Group. If you have vacationed in MCO and taken transportation to Disney, you probably were on one of our buses or vans. Frontier was one of the best experiences of my career. I miss the company and all the great friends I made. There probably aren't too many who will anyway, but my daughters and I had so much fun with you and Mike the nice young man whose name escapes me, who became a priest and a few years ago was killed in an auto accident. I'm pretty good. I remarried almost 16 years ago, had a heart attack just before I turned 60, but I doing pretty well. Thank God my husband Wrex is healthy. I just turned 74 and he's 73. Isn't that unbelievable? I never intended to be old. With our combined families we have 8 kids and 13 grandkids. Wrex is a gem! My younger daughter, Sherry, is 51 and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis about 25 years and now is completely helpless, sits in a recliner in front of the TV all day, doesn't speak, and can't be left alone, so I care for her several days a week. Who all are you in touch with? Where and how are you? What have you been doing? I get a Christmas card from H. Lee every year, but he never says much. I hear from Sandy Glau every Christmas, Jan Gibbs occasionally, had heard from Bill Thiets before he died, and very few others. My step-daughter and her family live in North Carolina, but everyone else is here. It's fun to have them all around. I know what you mean about it being a lot of work. There is always something that needs to be done when you have a house. I remember Neil. I always wondered if you two got married. I always thought he was nice. Whatever happened to him? If you sold, where would you want to go? I remember Mike Macek, which is surprising, since I can't always remember yesterday any more. My life couldn't be better, except for my daughter's health. I started singing with the Sweet Adelines barbershop chorus shortly after I move to Denver. I picked it up again when I came back to Omaha, and sang with them for 30 years, but it was a lot of work, and my energy gave out a few years ago. Regarding the picture, I don't remember ever having seen it before. When I've looked at some of the pictures on Facebook, I can't even recognize them. Don't think I would have known Mikey White. Obviously there is no picture of me. I doubt very much that anyone would recognize me since I've gotten old and fat. I think the reason Lee Davis is so thin is that shortly after FL was gone, he was diagnosed with Diabetes, and had to change his eating habits. I also wouldn't have known Stan Smith from his picture. Funny how hair, or the lack of it, can make such a big difference. I've also been in touch with Jim Meade, who was another of my favorites. He and Del have been divorced for a while. Seems like there was a lot of that around with airline people. I'm new to Facebook and had to have my techie grandson teach me a little, but don't really want to know too much. Say hi to Mike, and keep in touch. I really enjoy hearing from you - a bit of the past! From: Facebook Sunday at 11:11pm via · Like Connie Mcalister Mary, we must get together in LNK the next time we have our FAL Reunion. We all get together every 2 years. We got together last Oct. will be 2014 fir the next one. Have only missed a couple of the DEN reunions. The 25th was so great. I love to see as many old FAL friends as I can. FAL was my whole life. Our DEN Reunion, this year will be Aug 24-25. Wish you could make it. You are welcome to stay with me. I still keep in contact with Del Zimmerman, Judi Fenton Plumer, Crowbar, Doug Black, Judy Byers from ticket counter, Dennis NAKATA, . If I sell, want to move to a warmer climate. Neil moved back to KC, Mo. we still talk. He was a very nice man. Will send a picture of our reunion in LNK last Oct. Will chat later...must get out side and cut limbs off trees we had to cut down last fall. The beetles killed about 50 trees on my property. Down to cleaning up the last 10-12 trees. They are huge, probably 40-50 feet tall. Later. Monday at 8:28am · Like Mary Robertson Harter Connie, Please let me know when your Lincoln reunion is. I would love to come. You amaze me when you talk about cutting down trees. I don't even clean my own house any more! From: Facebook 54 minutes ago via · Like Jake Lamkins Hi Mary, come join us at Old Frontier Airlines! Connie Mcalister You would know so many of the guys that come to the reunion because we all worked in DEN or OMA at one time. So foggy and cold today didn't get out much. I spent the month of Dec in New Zealand with friends. Have also spent time with them at their home in Hawaii. Great to have friends in Hawaii. Have also house set for Judi Fenton in Hawaii. Did that for about 4 years. Spent most of July at their house, they came over here for a yearly reunion with Judi's family. Plan to take my oldest Grandson to Hawaii in Oct. Mike Macek and I will probably do our annual trek to HNL in Dec, you all should join us. I don't think very many people realized that FL continued for nearly 5 more years. It would be a great contribution to FL's history. I hope all's well with you and you're enjoying retirement as much as I am. -Jake Lamkins (4/15/04) Yes, I will put an article together about the last days of FL. -Lee Davis (4/22/05) Got your renewal today, Lee, and thanks for your support. Thanks too for the informative note about employee records. I'll print it in the next issue. -Jake Lamkins (4/22/05) This is Verna Davis - Lee Davis's wife.
