LARRY TRUE 1968 - 1986 AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, BUILDING MAINTENANCE DEN MCI Subject: Frontier - 19 years after Amen again. Hated to see it happen, but we all had several years warning. Didn't mind starting over but the worst part was lost seniority. Wound up at Piedmont with about 90 other mechanics. The folks there treated us great. US AIR took over and the bean counters sunk the ship. Sound familiar? But I am still waking up every morning so I guess all is well. Good luck everyone. -Larry True (8/26/05) Hey everyone: We will be off line for a while. Sold the place here and am in the process of moving to colorado. Love, -Marjorie and Larry True (7/17/10) Dear Friends and Family, This is a update to let you know we arrived safely in Colorado and were settled in the small rental house at 317 Onarga in Paonia. Our cat, Oscar, made the trip with the help of some kitty valium but now he has settled in and has been exploring the neighborhood. We are thankful he has decided to stay and not head back to NC. We are planning to build on the land we share with our daughter, Marla, and her husband, Stu, so we have another move in the future. It is an interesting time for us as we have never had a new house built before. We have been enjoying the beautiful Colorado mountains and went to a Mountain festival in Carbondale , a mountain town close to Aspen . The weather has been great, cool with frequent showers. We are both well and enjoying our family with frequent visits and stay-overs with the grandchildren, Ellia and Anika. Still feels like vacation. We miss all our friends in NC and talk about you often. Keep the letters coming and update us on the internet our email address will remain the same for now. We will be making a trip back in Dec. for sure and possibly sooner, with plans to visit you all. Wed like to have you visit us in the sweet town of Paonia and spend time with us in the mountains. Love, -Marjorie and Larry True (8/8/07) Hi friends and family, Larry and I moved into our new house on Lamborn Mesa the end of March. We want to bring you up to date on the changes as well as our new address. A week after our move into our new home I fell after getting our cat Oscar our of a tree, fracturing my right lower leg, heel and an ankle bone. I am now recovering after surgery and placement of a lot of hardware. It's been a major life change with 12 weeks non-weight bearing. I've learned a lot about slowing down, life in a wheelchair and walker and the body's amazing ability to heal. I am 7 weeks into the process and will anticipate a progressive move to walking again in 5 weeks. I had to stop my work with Hospice, but anticipate returning once I am back on my feet. We are so happy in our new home. It is easy access and we planned for changes of aging and possible disabilities. Little did we know we'd be testing out the disability aspects so soon. We are enjoying the beauty of the mountains and the valleys from our windows, awesome views. We have guest rooms and would like to have you come and visit soon. In friendship and love -Marjorie and Larry True (5/23/08) Dear friends and family, We want to let you know about the latest diagnostics and plan regarding the cancer in Larry's right lung. The biopsy indicated a nonsmall cell cancer and the PET scan came back clear for any tumors other the and one in his upper right lung. His lab tests have come back indicating there is no metastasis to his liver or kidneys and the bone scan was clear. Sooooo, we are anticipating a period of chemotherapy and possible radiation to reduce the size of the tumor. If all goes as we hope it does he will be a candidate for either surgical removal of the tumor or the high tech approach of cyberknife radiation to obliterate the tumor. He had a medication port placed today for access for chemotherapy and will start chemo on Dec. 2nd. He is feeling ok other that some aches and pains that come with age and arthritis and he finds it necessary to rest quite a bit. His spirit is good and he is very positive about the plan for treatment. The weather has been great and we are visited daily by herds of deer in the fields around our house. We're looking forward to Thanksgiving with Marla, Stu, Anika and Ellia as well as about 30 friends. This holiday is quite an occasion in the Carlson household. Lisa will be joining us for Christmas. We'll try to keep you updated on all the latest. We have had such amazing support from family and friends. We hope all is going well with you, knowing you have been busy with your children and grandchildren. Sending you our love. -Marjorie and Larry True (11/24/08) Larry True died July 10, 2010 Larry died from a second round with lung cancer on July 10th, 2010.
