I received a call yesterday from King's wife Polly, that King died Saturday, October 4, 2008.  
His obituary will be in the Denver newspapers on Tuesday October 7, 2008.  
Services will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 
at the Aurora First Assembly of God Church, 11001 E. Alameda Ave., Aurora, CO. 
King was a Lead Mechanic in the Instrument Shop.

King Herrington started to work for Frontier August 11, 1958, 
in Denver in the Sheet Metal and Welding Shop (IAM Seniority Lists) 
and transfered to the Instrument Shop in 1964.  
He was a lead mechanic in the Instrument Shop March 3, 1968.  
King retired on January 22, 1985.

King, age 87, of Aurora, CO., peacefully passed away Oct. 4. 
Will be missed by loving wife of 58 years, Polly. 
Survived by 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. 
Visitation 6-8 p.m., Tues., Oct. 7, at Advantage Aurora Chase Mortuary, 1095 Havana St., Aurora, CO. 
Memorial Service, 10 a.m., Wed. Oct. 8, at Aurora 1st Assembly of God Church, 1101 E. Alameda Ave., Aurora, CO.

I was very interested in the tribute to King Herrington by his Son In law in the Summer 2009 issue.  
While King and his brother Sam were attending Akron High they rented rooms in the basement of our home.  
Somehow they managed to extract skunk scent and put it in a bottle and were using it to tease girls at school.  
My mother found out about it and ordered them to get it out of the house.  
They buried it in the back yard with a 6 year old boy named Bob Bricker watching.  
Of course I had to dig it up later in order to show it to the neighbor girl and I dropped it on the sidewalk.  
We lived within a block of the elementary school and school was let out for the rest of the day.  
King and Sam spent hours with shovels and wheelbarrow hauling dirt to cover a large section of our sidewalk.  
I don't think my mother ever forgave them.
