KEITH DAVIES 1958 - 1986 PILOT SLC DEN I just got a call from Brent that Capt. Keith Davies passed away last night. At this point the funeral will be Wed. I will try and get more information or if you have any sources to get info let me know. -Ken Wientjes (11/23/13) I first met Capt. Davies when I was stationed at Sidney NE. The morning flight through Sidney had a mechanical and I got to know Keith in the several hours that passed before a mechanic flew in to fix the airplane. We immediately hit it off as he was a horse lover and loved to go packing in the mountains. At that time Keith was living in Parker CO and was flying out of Denver. He gave me an order to make him a packsaddle and that started our adventures of packing in the wilderness. Shortly after that I was transferred to Jackson WY and immediately I got involved in guiding in a wilderness hunting camp. Keith transferred to Salt Lake which made it easier for him to spend more time up here in the Jackson country. I was able to go on several pack trips with Keith over the years that followed we hunted, fished, and had a ball doing what we loved to do. Keith brought his son Brent up just before he got married and we have stayed friends over the years as well. The Davies family became family to us and I have always stayed in touch with them. Keith was the kind of man that you just enjoyed being around as you could tell that being in the outdoors was his life. In a lifetime one only meets a few men of his character and I feel very fortunate to have know him and to have spent time with him. We will all miss him very much. -Ken Wientjes (11/23/13) I flew First Officer for Keith many times and you are very correct. He was a very classy act. -Tom Robertson (11/23/13) FAL DAVIES, KEITH N ALPA# 0193342 DOB 12/01/30 DOH 01/01/58 (error) RET 01/10/86 per the FL/ALPA Roster. I had the unbelievable good fortune to have spent my probationary period based at SLC. I learned so much from the captains there. Keith was among my favorites to fly with. "Superb" describes Keith as a pilot and as a person! The last time I saw Keith was at the SLC pilots luncheon where Jack Schade arranged a "retirement party" for me as I was on my last trip to SLC with JetBlue. I will send you a copy of that picture. I know Keith will be enjoying smooth air, warm-soft tailwinds, and a bright star to steer by on his flight west. No doubt he'll soon be ridin' his favorite horse pulling another loaded on one of your custom pack-saddles! -Billy Walker (11/23/13) Keith was definitely one of the good guys! RIP Keith and enjoy the reunion you'll have with all the other good guys that have left us. -Joanne Griffin (11/23/13) I flew with Keith out of SLC and always found him to be very genuine...A great guy. -Dee Curl Martenson (11/26/13) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: SLC DEN pilot Keith Davies' memorial webpage is posted. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Keith_Davies.html Many mourn Keith's flight west, including 71 grandchildren and great grandchildren. -Jake Lamkins (11/29/13)
