OBITUARY
Kaye Newingham Smedley, 1938-2008, Beardstown
Kaye Newingham Smedley, 69, of Beardstown, died Sunday morning, March 23, 2008, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 29, 1938, in Beardstown, the daughter of W.L. and Margaret Foster Newingham. 
She married Larry Smedley on Oct. 29, 1959, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Jeff (wife, Stephanie) of Frederick; two grandchildren; 
and two sisters, Barbara Newingham of Beardstown and Kathy (husband, Richard) Crum of Rushville. 
She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Newingham.
Mrs. Smedley was a 1957 graduate of Beardstown High School. 
She worked for the State of Illinois as a clerk and also as a tour guide for many years. 
She had also worked for a time as an agent with Frontier Airlines in Denver. 
After her retirement she worked for the Beardstown Public Library and the Beardstown Museum. 
She was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown and Red Hat Ladies.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday 
at St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown, with burial at St. Alexius Cemetery. 
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. 
Memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Hospice or to an Educational Fund for her grandchildren.

Kaye was working for FL in the Revenue Department/Travel Agencies at 6240 Smith RD.  
She started as an accounting clerk 1981, then either late 1985 or early 1986, she transfered to Gate Agent until August 1986.  
She was a fun person to work with in the Revenue Department.

I trained and worked with Kaye when she came over to Denver station.
She was a great person to be around and did her best given the last months at FL.
I am sad to hear this.
