Ed came to Monarch from Continental and he was Gen. Mark Clarke's private pilot during WWII. Dallas Taylor, for a while, flew top-brass in a C-54 also during WWII and knew Ed during that time. The only pilots that were with Ray Wilson were; Art Sinclair, Bert Clark, Jug Jella, Willie Hurt, Johnny Myers, Don Bridie and Warren Heckman. There may have been others but not with Monarch/Frontier. Just FYI With Best Wishes, -Ace Avakian (2/22/00) Forwarded by Billy Walker (2/22/00) John was one of the pioneer pilots who started with Monarch Airlines flying DC-3s. Still need an obituary for him and date when he retired from Frontier. -Jake Lamkins (10/2/20) Billy Walker I am kickin’ myself! I should have been able to answer this. At one time I had both John & Donna’s obituary. I do have a nice photo of them holding hands in front of the Cessna DC-6 that Ray Wilson had. I absolutely loved them both! They were close friends with my uncle Gib (Nesbitt) & Aunt Lucy from the WWII days in Chickasha (CPT). John hired me (and most pilots in the 1966 — 68 era. I used to spend a lot of time over at their place listening to some GREAT stories. I said, "I sure would like a photo of you two t’gether!” Donna went over and grabbed a photo off the wall. She said, “Here, this is my favorite!” I felt awkward accepting, but she insisted saying there was ’nuther just like it in the bedroom. Boy Howdy those two were simply wonderful folks! I will pry the backing off and take a photo of the photo and send it soon! John and former PHX Chief Pilot “Pappy” Clark were very close (also from the Chickasha days). Jeanne Hanson Such a gentleman & great guy. Ginger Treptow Such a wonderful person. so happy I knew him. (10/4/20)
