JOHN BLAKE 1968 - 1986 STATION AGENT MCK GRI PDX LAS I just heard that John Blake died, it was back in June of this year. I don't have any details, but his wife called a friend of ours here in Grand Island. John worked in GRI until we closed and then moved to PDX He worked in MCK before coming to GRI. He ended up in LAS with America West. I understand he died of Cancer. He had a brother Eldon Blake that worked for FAL in Denver, but I don't know where he is now. Just thought I would let you know, Maybe you can find out more info on him. -Tom Blanchard (12/27/06) OBITUARY: BLAKE, JOHN John Blake, 63, of Henderson, died June 18, 2006. I found John's obituary online. I worked with Eldon in DEN and I heard back in Feb that Eldon had cancer too but I haven't heard anything since. Do you recall about what John Blake's seniority date was? Did he remain a station agent or possible switch to TCA? I can't find him on the seniority list. Thanks for the info. -Jake Lamkins (12/28/06) I tossed all my bankruptcy papers this last year some time. I kept them for 20 years I know. I had the seniority roaster too but I don't have it any more. I will check a couple guys and see if they still have it. No, I don't think John ever went to a TCA. Seems to me John went by a different first name. After PDX closed Him and Bob White left. Bob went to COS and John went to LAS. I will check and see if I can find more info and I will let you know. -Tom Blanchard (12/28/06) I found his brother Eldon on the seniority list at 4/10/73. He's in Ohio. The only other Blake I find is WN BLAKE, EMP #00957, 9/15/68 Could that be him, -Jake Lamkins (12/28/06) YesI just remember that we called him John, but his name was Wendle. I don't know hows happen it came to me, but I knew we didn't call him by his right Name. Yet that is it. -Tom Blanchard (12/28/06) I found this at the social security death index: WENDELL N BLAKE Born 08 Mar 1943 Died 18 Jun 2006 Age 63 SSN issued in Nebraska Thanks for your help. He must have disliked his real name - even his obituary says John. Do you know how he got the nickname John? Attached is an article I found about yall from 1980. -Jake Lamkins (12/28/06) That 1980 is hard to forget. I sure don't know where John got the nick name, but we all called him that. We had lots of good memories and good time. Thanks for the rest of the info. -Tom Blanchard (12/28/06) John had also worked for FAL in LAS until we shut down. He had been battling cancer for quite some time. -Bev Orr (1/1/07) W N BLAKE Station agent seniority date and DOH 9/15/68 DOB 3/8/43 ORG# 3435 - LAS per the Oct 1986 FL/ALEA Seniority List. -Jake Lamkins (8/1/15) DEN station agent Eldon Blake's memorial webpage has been updated: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Eldon_Blake.html Added several pix and a weblink to his brother John whose webpage has also been upgraded: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/John_Blake.html Moved to a non-ad webpage but still need a photo of John. -Jake Lamkins (8/2/15) I never realized before that Eldon and John were brothers. I worked in customer service in Denver and had fun times with Eldon around. I also worked in PDX with John. He was a great guy to work with. He was my hero the day my father passed away because he met me on the ramp from a flight from Bend and took me to a Continental flight which was being held for me. I had already been transferred out of PDX to SLC and I never saw him again. How sad they are both gone. -Jean McDonald (8/3/15)
