TEXT FOR WEBPAGE JIM TAYLOR 1968 - 1986 AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, POWERPLANT ENGINEER DEN OMA STL Posted at Dale's memorial webpage: Everybody knew Dale Welling, the PHX story and of course the cockpit door rope. first time I saw that I said 'What the hell is this'? Dale gave me a courteous explanation and I told him when he wears that one out I will get him a new one from stock. What a guy! -Jim Taylor (3/3/99) Posted at Larry's memorial webpage: Larry Vannoy was a quiet guy, He had probably 30 to 35 years in as a Frontier Mechanic, most of it in the Hangar. I think I knew him 10 years before I ever heard him speak. But he was a Stand Up great guy, an excellent mechanic who just did his job and never harmed a fly. My sincerest condolences to his family. -Jim Taylor (11/30/00) Hello Ken (Schultz), Hope this gets thru to you, It has been a while since I used your ‘e’ mail address. Please advise you receive this. Thank you for your FAL info you sent, most interesting. Wish there was another one indicating where everyone is, address and such. Have you been keeping up with the goings on at ASA, what a mess. Clink is doing well. He went back to work for a local Company building race car fuel tanks, I call him the energizer bunny. Harry Lehr is moving to Bend, we have talked and will play some golf soon, he is having a house built a few miles away from me. Hope all is well with you. -Jim Taylor (2/21/01) Hi Jim, I received your message OK. I am trying to distribute the “WE Remember” list to as many old FL employees as possible. Of course, sometimes I might add several new names in a month’s time. I go to the Denver area “Maintenance and Engineering Retired Employees Group”, so they keep me up to date on members that have passed on. I haven't kept up on the problems at ASA, and am glad I retired when I did - before the big problems started showing up. -Ken Schultz (2/21/01) Here is an inventory of pix I found during the move, please advise if you would like any or all, my compliments of course. 1-An FAL B-727-200 in flight ( transparency) 16" by 20" (rather unique) 2-Convair 340 sunliner-Arapahoe (N#112) on the ramp, looks like Jackson Hole 16" by 20" 3-CV-580 (N#152) on the ramp North Platte 16" by 20" 4-DC-3 on the ramp location unknown, airshow in progress above 11" by 14" 4-CV-340 on the ramp Looks like Jackson Hole again,11" by 14" 5-DC-3 artist drawing FAL N#4990E dated Oct 77, #66 of 50011" by 17" 6-DC-3 on the ramp unknown location circa 1940's 11" by 14" 7-CV-340 Sunliner Navajo N#73130 location unknown 11" by 15" All are in excellent condition and suitable for framing. Thanks for the subscription renewal, always look forward to the old FAL news. Best regards, -Jim Taylor (10/12/05) I have just been informed of the passing of Wayne Stillwell on February 6th in Yuma, Az from complications of M.S at 68 years of age. There is an obit published in the Yuma Sun newspaper. I shall post more info as it becomes available. Wayne was a long time line mechanic in STL. -Jim Taylor (2/10/11) Posted at Ace Avakian's memorial webpage: Ace was the mechanic's friend as well, always kind and courteous. Every line mechanic in the system knew Ace and had the utmost respect for him. -Jim Taylor (2/8/11) You may have already received this email but I'll forward it to you in case. I worked with Jim at DEN maintenance for several years. -Bob Baxter ---------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sending this email out to all of you since you were email recipients as I was for an email that was sent out by Jim Taylor. My brother just told me that Jim had just died of a heart attack. Since I grew up with Jim in Kirkland, WA until his family moved to San Diego in the middle of our Jr. year @ Lake Washington High School, it was devastating news. If any or all of you could email me with any additional news, I would appreciate it. I had just seen him in August, 2012, here in Kirkland, when our Lake Washington High School Class of 1962 held it's 50th reunion. -Jack Caskey (4/25/14) Thanks, Bob, I had not heard about Jim's flight west. -Jake Lamkins (4/25/14) FLacebook Just got word that DEN aircraft mechanic Jim Taylor died of a heart attack recently. -Jake Lamkins (4/25/14) Gosh,I hope not Jake. I just got an e mail from him Wednesday and he was fine. -Bill Guthrie (4/25/14) Anyway you can check, Bill. My info was an email from Bob Baxter who forwarded an email from a high school friend of Jim's. -Jake Lamkins (4/25/14) Oh no, was this Tanje (sp) who was married to a F/A? I remember them well! -Jolie Haas Larder (4/25/14) Jim lived in Bend Oregon. I checked that area for obits but found nothing. I'll try later. We worked together in DEN and went to OMA together until they removed maintenance. From there. Jim went back to DEN and I went to FSM. -Bill Guthrie (4/25/14) Jim had heart problems a few years back. We have not spoke for a little while. This comes as a shock. I sent a text the other day about my phone number change and got a text back "Who is this". So I have no idea what is going on. -Don White (4/25/14) Yes, Jolie, Jim's wife was F/A Tange Malia Taylor, class of Jun 30, 1977. I still have not found an obituary for Jim. -Jake Lamkins (4/25/14) Met Jim years ago when he lived in the mountains of Colorado; prayers to his family and friends. -Trish Swanson-Hawk (4/27/14) J L TAYLOR DENMX, emp# 08339 Address in Evergreen CO per the Nov 1984 FL Roster. J L TAYLOR Emp# 08339 Address in Federal Way WA per the Aug 1990 FL Roster. -Jake Lamkins (4/27/14) I don't know if you knew Jim Taylor, Line Mechanic in DEN....... good looking guy, smaller, younger version of Robert Goulet (don't know if he could sing tho LOL). 1967/8 He worked the Grave Yard shift on John's crew. After 8/86, he went to work for Alaska Airlines. He passed away a few days ago due to a heart attack. Pat Williams-Harder pointed out that he was in STL for a while and lived across the river in IL. I'm told the Memorial Service for Jim will be in Bend, OR. on Monday, May 5th. Jim's wife, Tange, was a Flight Attendent for FAL. I'm ashamed to admit, I can't remember her maiden name. -Shari Oliver Salsbury (4/26/14) I got a call today and Roy Lane confirmed that Jim did indeed die of a heart attack. -Bob Spohn (4/28/14) I heard through the grape vine that Jim Taylor died from a massive heart attack and am wondering if you know anything about his death. He was a popular Frontier employee and I would like more info so we can send it out to our retirement club. Thanks for your help. -Shirley Drnovsek (4/28/14) Yes, Jim Taylor died of a heart attack.
