Need more info such as dates of employment, obituary, photo, etc. -Jake Lamkins (7/19/09) "Clink" or somtimes "Colonel Clink" as he was affectionately known died here at his home July 14 or 15 in Bend, Oregon after a 3 month battle with cancer. I am awaiting the local posting of his obit and will send to you. A long time maint inspection foreman in Denver he retired here in Bend in 1987. A native Oregonian - St Helens, Or on the Columbia river Northeast of Portland. He spent his time here working for "Fuel Safe Mfg Corp" inspecting fuel tanks built for NASCAR and INDY cars. An incredible man of many talents, he could quell any dispute and diffuse any situation that arose. He is survived by his wife Doris and a son near Denver. -Jim Taylor (7/21/09) The obit posting for Clink will be done by his son in the Denver Post. As of today it has not been done (Wed's July 22) There will not be a posting in the Bend paper per Doris. -Jim Taylor (7/22/09) I was not aware of Clink passing, it was a sad day when I learned. Clink was a special person in which I have nothing but fond memories of. His eye was always on u even if it wasn't. I think all will understand who knew Clink. He and Cornstubble helped me cut my eye teeth in aviation and was one of many mentors I had at the old Frontier and one of the main reasons for where I am at in my career. The Ol Frontier numbers are dwindling but the memories never fade on what we all took for granted back in the good ol days. We all had a lot of fun. -Kevin Pape (7/22/09) Subject: Updated memorial webpage JIM CLINKINBEARD 1959 - 1986 AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, INSPECTION FOREMAN DEN http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Jim_Clinkenbeard.html Found a pic of Jim. Post your remembrances. Jake Lamkins (4/3/10) Please add to your "gone west" list (was not on Ken Schultz) James Clinkenbeard, DOD -7/15/2009- Bend, Oregon. Cancer Denver mechanic, inspector and inspection foreman early 50's on. Survived by wife Doris. Any further info needed please advise. I believe I read dates and age in an earlier FAL newsletter. -Jim Taylor (7/27/10) I got Clinkenbeard covered and he's on the FL website memorial webpages. He passed after Schultz' last "we remember" list. Jake (7/27/10) Jim and I were the "machining" team at Fuel safe for years! I saw the web-link,very respectful, thank you, but I was wondering how and if I could add my own recollections of Clink. PS (this is bugging me), the site states Clink was an inspector at Fuel Safe, this is the lowest position at the workplace, he was my machinist/assistant/fabricator!,and darn good at it! I miss the old fart and his stories of Colorado to the backside of Mnt Jefferson and the DIRT roads connecting them. -Laszlo, Bend Ore. (11/25/12) Email me your remembrances of Jim and I will add them to his memorial webpage. Pix welcome too. Jim was an inspector at Frontier Airlines. There are several FLolks in Bend, OR, by the way. -Jake Lamkins (11/25/12) I will type up a word-doc and email it,thanks. This will take a day or two,as I say,Jim was a "sponge" of stories and fun-loving personality. I am a journeyman machinist, and was working at Fuel Safe Inc,Bend Ore, (we built fuel bladders and cells), Clink got hired to help me about one year into my 7 years there. You doing this deed for me will bring me closure, apart from me finding just the right spot in E-Oregon to build Cling a rock cairn(I am a desertrat), the perfect spot would be in a meadow on the NW slope of Mnt Jefferson which Clink rode his horses to often, and from what I heard from Clink, spread his late wife's ashes at, BUT I hate horses and I would get into a lot of trouble riding my dirt bike to! -Laszlo, Bend Ore. (11/26/12) J E CLINKINBEARD DEN mechanic DOB 10/1/26 DOH 8/17/59 per the Feb 1960 Frontier Roster. Jim's name was often misspelled with an "e" instead of an "i". -Jake Lamkins (8/17/17) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Jim Clinkinbeard DEN inspection foreman Jim Clinkinbeard's memorial webpage has been updated at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Jim_Clinkenbeard.html Several items added and his surname corrected. -Jake Lamkins (8/17/17)
