JIM BOOTH 1974 - 1982 STATION AGENT & SENIOR STATION AGENT JAC DEN RNO Agent in DEN & JAC, cancer first discovered due to discolored "mole" on his back. He & wife taking a trip when he became very ill and got off flight at DFW. Died in hospital there. This was about 1982. Need more info. -Jake Lamkins (4/6/99) Jake I remember Booth. We were both SSA's in Denver and transfered to Reno when it open in Feb of 80. He had been a ramp SSA for at least 3 years before transfering to RNO. I can't remember the date that he died but he was in route to Mexico to get some cancer treatment. He was oboard a flight going into Dallas when something happen (medically) to him and they had to take him to a Dallas hospital where he died. I was in RNO when he had came back from a routine doctors visit and was told that he had cancer and only gave him a couple of years to live. If you could find a Frontier agent by the name of Boone (first name unknown) I'm sure he could fill you in if you can find him. -Don Carlson (4/8/99) Hi Ron, You mentioned at the Club having some photos you'd share. Why don't you send them to me & I'll do some scanning? Do you recall when Jim Booth died? Any details? We have very little info at his obituary webpage. Thanks, -Jake Lamkins (01/04/01) Don't have info on Jim Booth as I was working DTW at the time. Jim & I owned a raft in JAC. We used to do lunch counter rapids on the Snake. One day we didn't get out of the river when we should have. Both missed work and they thought we were drowned. -Ron Abfalter (1/12/01) Do you have any idea what year it was that Jim Booth died? I've checked the Social Security Death Index but there are so many by that name I can't ID him. The year of death would help pinpoint it. Do you recall his wife's name? -Jake Lamkins (1/12/01) I think Jim died 82 or 83. All I remember was a msg off printer saying he had died. It was pretty emotional as we were good friends. I talked to Gary Stevens (Cliff's nephew) at Thanksgiving. He said Jim's wife (Joni) is living in RNO. -Ron Abfalter (1/13/01) Thanks for your help on Jim. Just found him in the Social Security Death Index: JAMES BOOTH 19 Oct 1946 Jun 1982 (not specified) 89509 (Reno, Washoe, NV) SSN issued in Colorado Hell of a deal to die so young - 35! -Jake Lamkins (1/13/01) Hey Ron, Got the photos in the mail to you yesterday. Thanks a lot. I think I can crop out Jim Booth's pic for a webpage for him. I'll work on it this weekend. Got my scanner working again so we'll see. -Jake Lamkins (1/19/01) Thanks Jake Jim deserves the best you can do. He was one fine person. Remember one time in DEN. He was afternoon SSA and the wx was rather inclement to say the least. After the 1800 rush he came up to Bob Harpen (one of the assist. managers at the time) with a big grin on his face and said "Dad, can I borrow the car?". Got the ok and took FL van loaded with his ramp crew out to dinner. -Ron Abfalter (1/20/01) I found the teletype mentioned above by Ron. It was in one of my old scrapbooks. It's posted on Jim's webpage. He died June 12, 1982. His widow Joanie Booth still lives in RNO. -Jake Lamkins (11/25/04) Cannot find Jim on the 1/1/74 FL/ALEA Seniority List. Next one I have is 7/1/84. -Jake Lamkins (2/24/11) FLacebook postings on Feb 22, 2020 about JAC ramp picture Drove that tug a few times myself. Also I see the belt loader in the frame. Me and Jim Booth went sage hen hunting with that thing one day. Jim sat on the end of the belt and I raised it up and cruised the taxi way. Jim let loose with some rocks as well and actually got one. Think he tried to eat it for dinner. True story. If memory serves it was 1976. -Ron Abfalter I was just thinking about Jimmy and his stories from JAC .... awesome. -Hal Fahrenbruch A real tragedy how the Big C got Jim so early: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Jim_Booth.html Need a better photo of Jim - anybody got one? -Jake Lamkins It was. Some really good times with him. -Ron Abfalter I heard a story about Jim Booth and an oversold flight. Did Jim really speak Chinese on the PA asking for volunteers? -Gary Smith I wouldn't doubt he did. Serious fun to be around. -Ron Abfalter (2/22/20) Got a few more seniority lists. J D BOOTH Emp# 12275 Station agent seniority date of 10/21/74 Per the Dec 1, 1981 FL/ALEA Seniority List. -Jake Lamkins (2/27/20) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Jim Booth DEN JAC RNO station agent Jim Booth's memorial webpage has been updated at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Jim_Booth.html Finally found an obituary but still need a better photo of Jim.
