JERRY PICKERING 1959 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT CDR LNK PUB JAC DEN MKC SLC CYS LAW JLN TUL My name is Roger Greenlee, I was employed by FL on August 20, 1963, in CYS, by Bob Anderson who later died of a heart attack on his 42nd birthday at the Denver airport. Other agents in CYS in Aug 63, Howard Stewart, John or JD Stewart, Ron Wagner, Roger Lienau, Jim Bogan, Art Keck, Tom Cerreto, Gene Melton, Larry Winters & Jerry Pickering. ...I met my wife Fran in LAR, moved back to CYS then after the CN FL merger Jerry Pickering talked me into moving to LAW May 72. The old FL employees there were Jerry Pickering, Dick Withrow & myself, CN/FL employess Floyd Rollins was the manager, Jeff Hutchinson, Ray Hall, Gale Moss, Ray Butler, Nelson Parish and some others who I can't remember at the moment. Was at CYS, JAC, LAR, LAW, CPR, GCK, RKS, & RAP -Roger Greenlee (2/17/03) Subject: Hello to everyone Fron JAP/JLNOO Keep those notes comming..!!! BOY oh BOY is it great to hear from/and/about all of you. I stayed in the airline buisness making a stent of supervisor/ramp manager Etc at BN-2,EAL, US, USE, ZV, and briefly at HP...seems like every one I worked for went bankrupt...OH WELL...Have many stories to tell some day..... From the land of OZ-Kansas where the tornado all but got us this year. Took all our trees but somehow left our house..however the neighbors on either side are gone with the wind....(it didn"t want to get tangled up with all this airline junk we have)..talk about a MESS.... Cheers from OL JAP/CDR-LNK-PUB-CYS-MKC (SLC during the big airline strike)LAW-JLN-TUL (oh yes the first full time crew in JAC-too) and DEN for a hundred different things.!! -Jerry Pickering (6/21/03) I can tell you a story/from JLN..A Psgr was banging on the counter saying my bag is still on that airplane..so good old Ed Ciskowski.who had already been told that is all the JLN stuff we could find would not take anyone's word for it decided to take matters in his on hand. So while Otis Lytle was putting up the stairs on the 737 to ICT Ed goes out and climbs into the cargo bin to see for his self..Otis proceeds to plug in the head set and crank up the first engine..The capt says HEY Otis we have a cargo door light.....with engine running Otis un plugs goes back shuts the cargo door----and the rest is history..ON the way out to T/off the flight attendant called the Capt..saying there is a big thumping sound back here only to have them (it seems like ol ED was banging on the cargo ceiling but no one would help) say the tires were hot when we landed and it was quite cold in JLN and the tires had a flat spot on them by now and they were thumping on the ground. SO OFF to ICT it was. Arival in ICT they open the cargo bin only to find dear ol ED..all tied up in the Cargo net and holding on for dear life...IN THE mean time the PSGR was really up set at the JLN TC because no one was helping him and his bag was still missing..and we could not find ED..who was supposed to come right back and help him. -Jerry Pickering (1/29/05) The beauty of the Frontier Family is that everyone was fun to work with, we all enjoyed what were doing. Did Jerry ever tell you about the time he was coming down the steps of a convair in CYS. It was one of those in a hurry type moves, that several of us had tried. Jerry put his hands on the rails after taking a few steps and swung himself to the ground. The day we all remember is after he landed he was laying there on the ramp looking down at his one foot with the bottom of it facing him. Think he pulled the ankle joint apart. It healed enough by fall that we were able to go deer hunting on Elk Mtn. -Roger Greenlee (2/1/05) For the life of me I cannot think of the last name of Jerry, one of the former Frontier agents at JLN. He still lives west of Joplin, just over the line in Kansas, and I saw him just yesterday. Can you please tell me his last name, and his e-mail address? Thanks! -Mark Ingram (6/3/08) That would be Jerry Pickering, a great guy.
