JERRY FOX 1946 - 1958 FLIGHT STEWARD, CHIEF STEWARD, STATION MANAGER DEN Larry Hughey was a fine agent with me in DEN. He was a cousin to Jerry Fox - the first DEN station manager. -Cal Reese (6/30/03) I reflect upon the opening of the FL Denver station in the summer 1950. Jerry Fox, John Carpenter and I, with a group of new agents, started our fish bowl operation in the little old DEN terminal - exciting times then, but to my knowledge, I am the only one still alive to reminisce about that group. -Cal Reese (7/7/07) Only Fox I can find on the 11/1/55 station seniority list G B FOX seniority date 9-5-50. He is also on the 11/4/55 FL Roster as DEN station manager There is also a Jerry Fox and George Fox in the Monarch Airlines photos which identify him as a steward. -Jake Lamkins (7/7/07) I just found your web site and being an old Monarch flight steward found it enjoyable reading up on Monarch. I was a passenger on the first flight to Albuquerque and Vern Carlson was the flight steward and finding that I was ex. Navy Air in WW2 ask if I wanted a job as flight steward with Monarch so I joined them in early 1947. Jerry Fox was my boss and I seemed to fly a lot with Ben Stewart and Ed McCann. Used to go to the midget races at lakeside with John Myers and Donna. -Dick Faucett (3/27/09) Cal Reese phoned and he told me about how the DEN station was started. Before FL, Monarch had been handled in DEN by WA and CO handled Challenger. After the merger June 1, 1950 a group started up the station. Participants included Elton Snoke, Jim Montgomery, Cal Reese, Jerry Fox, Bill Bates and John Carpenter. Jerry Fox was the first DEN station manager and Cal was the second. -Jake Lamkins (7/27/09) I have also noted that many personnel have never been recognized for the great contibutions they provided MAL (Monarch Air) and the startup of FL. Jerry Fox was Chief Steward when MAL made the 1st flite from DEN to DRO. Jerry, his lovely wife and 2 children had a home in DEN, but his family also had a fine ranch on the hiway going out east almost to Kansas. He became the 1st DEN station manager from Aug 1950 until Jun 1 1958, when he was appointed to the GO. I was a DEN senior agent under Jerry and acting manager during Jerry's vac , etc, Then I became the 2nd DEN station manager 6/01/1958 until I became sales/service mgr in PHX Feb 1964. In the meantime Jerry Fox had need to return to living and running his ranch. Years passed by and one day in the 1970s , Jerry came by my 3rd floor office in the DEN terminal. He asked me if I could provide him with a referral, covering his time with FL and I advised I would be very happy to oblige. He said he had been by the FL Employment office and that no one remembered him and that they were unable to locate his records! Jerry said he had to run now, but he would be by to pick up the referral. He gave me no DEN contacts. Shortly therafter I was advised he had been quite ill and he had passed away. I never had the opportunity to say goodby to a very dear friend! -Cal Reese (4/28/12) He was Monarch per Cal Reese. Called George Fox on some of the photos. Have not been able to find an obituary. -Jake Lamkins (4/29/12) There are ten records in the SSDI but this the only Colorado one. I will assume this is Jerry until other info received: George B.
