Aloha to all the Frontier family members.....hope you are doing fine.....still in Denver? I gave up my Eco-Tourism B&B business and moved to Kona. I bought a duplex near the beach and spend most of my time in the water or collecting Hawaiiana items, as well as landscaping, reading a lot of Hawaiian history including computer research. I was shocked to hear about sweet Dana Razee, Ric Smith, Eldon Blake, et al in the obituary section.... if you ever see John Oakley, a FL Ramp Agent in Denver, please tell him hello and call me anytime..... -Jan Shannon - FL Ramp Ops {1977 - 1986} (6/19/08) Hi Jan, Great hearing from you. Thanks for the updates.....I've been busy in the Islands since leaving Denver but was surprised to hear about the Ex-Frontier ex-pats and their lives after the good ole days at Frontier in Denver. I opened a Eco-Tourism B&B on the Big Island of Hawaii and established the business for a couple of years before selling it and moving to the dryer Kona side of the island. Please keep me informed and I'll send ya some funds to help your great newsletters.... just tell me where to send it to.....is it 10 bucks still? I was really shocked and surprised to just now hear about Dana Razee, Eldon Blake, Ric Smith and the Senior Station Den Station agent, John Scott who was killed in Denver.... I remember him being a real nice and pleasant guy with the customers and agents as well as the others..... I'm glad you are doing fine and hope the Razorbacks will have a good year! Did you know the Denver Station agent {nice Black guy....can't remember his name.... that was Herb Redclouds friend} that relocated to Denver but lived in Ft. Smith Arkansas? Sorry to hear of his passing....prayers and thoughts with his family. Almost 3 years ago, eh? I'm just amazed about hearing about people whom we worked with over the years. If you or any of the ole FL Den Rampies make it out to the Big Island [Kona] don't hesitate to contact me. Hope all is well with you in Arkansas! Any updated FL news would be appreciated. -Jan Shannon (4/30/10) I don't use Facebook or Twitter due to confidential matters being monitored by Government Agencies [Patriot Act]. Without going into great detail, in another far away lifetime before working at Frontier, I was affiliated with the U.S. Military Intelligence special operations in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam conflict. I was assigned to the U.S. Army Security Agency [ASA], a top secret headquarters in Saigon. I was immediately diverted from my assignment into the 101-st Airborne Airborne rogue unit operating near Cambodia in the Central Highlands and later moved toward the Ashau Valley [NVA supply routes] toward the DMZ near the infamous Golden Triangle area [Air America]. This was one reason why I quietly relocated to Denver to work for the Airlines from Hawaii where Politics is connected between the U.S. Military Hawaii is where I was born and raised... with a massive U.S. Military presence [Pearl Harbor - U.S. 6th Fleet Base for the entire Asia- Pacific Region] Hopefully, this may help you and the other Frontier employees who were all victimized by the Wall Street mega-airline mergers, using Union Pensions funds, for leverage Buy-outs. -Jan Shannon (4/30/10) I will send along the $50 contribution to you from Jan Shannon in Kailua Kona HI. I will say that Mr or Ms Shannon sent, besides $50 to you and $50 to the picnic, one of the old green background with red arrow FAL round medal logo. s/he sent along some material something about having been a CIA agent, having been sent into Cambodia by the CIA/ serving in Vietnam said it was s/he was a secret agent and some material about Ed Snowden (the guy who took all the secrets) and the included the business cards for the Congresswoman Tusci Gabbard (her district and a VA psych doctor)!!!! Jan Shannon sounds familiar but I am not sure why or part of FAL s/he was working.feels like reservations maybe but I think that was a female - not sure.. I think I will call the Congresswoman's office tomorrow just to see if I can figure out what's up. Check is in the mail to you. -Carolyn Boller (6/30/16) Jan was a DEN station agent with whom I worked 1984-86. He was Hawaiian and has returned there since the bankruptcy. He used to send me some emails but quit about 6 years ago and I haven't heard from him since. Back in the day, he was a good head and terrific worker. Pic of him attached. Thanks for the info and forward. -Jake Lamkins (6/30/16) FLacebook Did you see the posting on Jan Shannon's page? He passed away two days ago. He's Jc Shannon on Facebook -Krista Anderson Conley (5/29/20) NO! I did not. Thank you for alerting me. -Jake Lamkins (5/29/20) First of Facebook train about Jan from Apr 3, 2020 Debi Lorraine "We will always have a piece of our heart that smiles when we think of you." Jc Shannon, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, left this world suddenly yesterday. He was the loving son of Annie Shannon, herself almost 100 years old, and he was a beloved and devoted friend to so very many who are shocked and saddened by his passing. He was a good friend to my parents and leaves a big, aching, gaping hole in their hearts. We will miss you so very much, JC. ?? Krista Anderson Conley We're heart broken to hear! Jan was the best man in our wedding. We worked with him at Frontier. We hadn't heard from him in a long time. So sorry! Debi Lorraine I'm sorry, it is heartbreaking. It was apparently a heart attack. From what I know, he was found on the ground in the hospital parking lot. He apparently tried to take himself to the emergency room. Krista Anderson Conley Oh my! Dave and I are praying for his Mom. Debi Lorraine Yes, so sad for her. A relative took her in, I think on Oahu. (5/29/20) Jake Lamkins Text to Judi Fenton Plumer: Have you heard anything about Jan Shannon flying west. There's a post on his Facebook page but I cannot find an obituary. Judi Fenton Plumer No, I was stunned to see post from Krista. Haven't heard about him in years. (5/30/20) Jake Lamkins Text to Krista Have you heard anything else about Jan Shannon? I have not been able to find an obituary. Krista Anderson Conley Just the remarks that were on his page. (6/13/20) FLacebook Mark Fitzwater Hi Jake, I heard Jan Shannon - ramp agent DEN had died in Hawaii last week. Jake Lamkins I got a report of the same. I have not been able to find any confirmation like an obituary and/or death notice. Google search found nothing. Let me know if you get more info. (6/14/20) Jerry Piller You probably already heard, but Jan Shannon (DENOO) passed away suddenly on 2 Apr 2020... probably in Kailua-Kona, HI. Trying to get more details. Drove himself to the hospital but never made it inside. He was found dead next to his car in the hospital parking lot. Jake Lamkins Hey Jerry, I heard that awhile back but have been unable to verify. Let me know anything you find out. (7/9/20) Jerry Piller Still trying to get more info... there has not been an obituary published for him, but he is deceased. (7/14/20) Jerry Piller I spoke with a good family friend of Jan's and it is definitely him and he died in the parking lot of the Kona hospital. He had been doing some work around his house, didn't feel quite right so was going to check it out. Got out of his car and collapsed. Dr figured he was dead before he hit the ground. He wanted to be cremated and have his ashes scattered off Lanikai, Oahu. He had a house rental for income and had his 100 year old mother living with him. Was divorced some time ago. No children that I know of. No obit published. I think you can safely add him to the "gone west" list. Jake Lamkins Thanks for your help, Jerry. I've moved him to the FLights West queue. (7/17/20) Marvin Euteneuer When did Jan Shannon die?? used to be married to a UA flt att... gave him non-rev ability to fly back to hawaii often. Chuck Tisckos Sorry to hear. Prayers for Jan’s family. I remember Jan from the after hours inn called 'After the Whistle Blows’ and think this pic likely was snapped there. RIP Jan. :( (7/31/20) John Taylor I remember working with Jan. He always had a smile on his face. May he rest in peace. Prayers for his family. I was riding my 750 Honda motorcycle back to Loveland, CO when the chain broke near Jan's house. His wife said it was OK to leave the motorcycle in his front yard temporarily. This allowed me time to get another chain and sprocket set for the motorcycle. When the chain broke it also took out the chain case on the engine. Jan was a good agent and a better person. Always fun to be around. RIP. -Roger Wallace, station agent 79-86. (8/1/20) Bonnie Dahl God Bless Jan! Robin Charovano RIP Steve Johnson Great guy.
