JACK ZEMBECK 1972 - 1986 DIRECTOR - CARGO SALES AND SERVICE DEN Jake, I have retired. Change my e mail to jacklynz@earthlink.net Thanks, -Jack Zembeck (8/29/05) Hi Jack, Hope you enjoy retirement as much as I have these past two years. Are you staying in the LAS area? I'll let the FLolks at the FL Club know about your retirement. -Jake Lamkins (8/29/05) Staying here in Vegas with Chuck Fahrenholz, Larry Nensteil and John Pappas. Lots of old FL folks stop by. Really appreciate your efforts. Best, Z (8/29/05) When National Airlines shuttered the airline, it grounded 18 leased B757s and put its 1,500 employees out of work November 7th. Even National's website was shut off. "An airline disappeared like a thief in the night," was one reaction. Even though B757s are not known for their cargo ability National's coast to coast frequencies added flexible lift to the market which added up to a welcome alternative for quick connections at a reasonable price. Under the seasoned hand of Jack Zembeck, the old cargo pro, with Don Lamy, Ernesto Schimmer and others, National Cargo operated through the past two years of financial turbulence performing well, while in other areas of the carrier, business slowly slipped away. Now all of that is gone. -http://www.aircargonews.com/archives/news-0212-01.html (8/29/05) July 13, 2009 Donna and Family After working at the same companies for almost 25 years I consider Mike an "old" friend. Always appreciated his dry sense of humor and his willingness to help. -Jack Zembeck, Henderson, Nevada Posted at Mike Leonard's guestbook. Not in the Jan 1, 1970 FL Telephone Directory. After FL he went to HP and the startup of the new National Airlines out of LAS where he lives. The New Yorker has not changed a bit. We put some amazing cargo on those planes. Miniature horses once from DFW to YWG, hogs...kins from LNK to PHX, drill bits on the 580s to FMN and tons of antlers from COD to DFW and all those Wall Street Journals we would board 5 nights a week out of DEN to SLC, ABQ & BIL. My back still hurts. Mike White (2/22/10) FLacebook Jack is 73 years old today. -Jake Lamkins (9/13/13) FLacebook Just saw Jack in Miami in November at Air Cargo Americas. Still looks great! -Mike White (12/11/13) Chuck Fahrenholz left a voice mail telling me to phone Jack Zembeck because he had a bunch of frontier timetables which need a home. Jack and I chatted almost 25 minutes remembering folks and talking about what happened to them. He is married to Sharon Ford who was a DEN secretary. She lives in PIT and he was going there tonight. His wife died 6 years ago and Sharon has been divorced quite awhile. He will send the timetables and anything else he comes across and I will send him the newsletter for awhile. -Jake Lamkins (3/7/17) Jack's package arrived today via Federal express and had 50 timetables, several business cards of various people, a 1980 Caddy registration in CO and 2 DAL city maps. I posted a thank you note at his FLacebook account and made a 3 year comp subscription for the newsletter. -Jake Lamkins (3/21/17) Hey Jack, The timetables arrived today and look GREAT! He had been ill for some time. Jack came to Frontier in 1972. -Jake Lamkins (4/16/20) Phoned Frank Schubert following up his voice message about Jack. He said Jack had been ill for awhile with respiratory problems but his death was not COVID 19 related. We chatted 28 minutes and covered lots of stuff. -Jake Lamkins (4/16/20) Jack was the best friend you could ever have. -Gene Dessel (4/17/20) I remember Jack well. When FL relocated HQ staff to the Hangar on Smith Road, Jack and I shared an office along with Dan Goodyear and Bill McKinney for a period of time. We also lived in proximity of each other in Englewood and on many occasions joined each other for Sunday dinners. Jack invited me to join him on a weekend fishing trip to the coast of Oregon hosted by an air freight carrier sharing a room together. Working for a small local carrier, Jack was never the less recognized as a giant in the air freight industry insuring FL’s success. His personal appearance and occasional gruffness may have intimidated some, however in reality he was a gentle giant. He never called me Ron preferring to call me "Frenchie". I miss him. I extend my sincere condolences to his three children who he loved so very much -Ron Beaumont (4/17/20) FLacebook Karyn Jeter Davis Taught me everything about cargo.
