The route was Denver - Portland - Eugene. This lot consists of an envelope postmarked March 3, 1983, at the special mail facility located at Stapleton International Airport in Denver. The envelope was flown on the inaugural flight by Frontier to Portland. The envelope was backstamped upon arrival in Portland. The flight was flown in a Boeing 737-200. The US Postal Service participated in the events surrounding this first flight by applying special rubber-stamped designs ONLY to those envelopes ACTUALLY FLOWN on the historic flight, now at a quarter-of-a-century ago! Not only that, but the envelope was autographed by the Frontier pilot, Captain A.J. Martin who flew the inaugural flight!! A great Frontier item here. -Ebay (12/4/08) Note & pic with renewal: Enclosed is a check for a 2 year subscription. My last check up was favorable and the doctor opined that I should last for eight issues. On the other hand, what does she know? Between her, the accountant and the lawyer I hire to watch both of them, none was born when Frontier closed the doors. Good grief. Where did the time go? When did I change from a young whipper- snapper to an old geezer? I don't remember losing my edge. I still have it. A couple of weeks ago I spent over two hours in the back yard playing with the grandkids. Not an easy thing to do at my age. Then my dear wife came outside and reminded me that we have no grandkids. Good grief. How could I dis-remember that? I found this eatery on the out skirts of town last week. I wonder if this is where we get our last crew meal. Jack Martin ex-FAL DENDZ (8/27/15) Jack Martin At DEN FARPA lunch, I was informed that Jack Martin, FAL pilot, passed away on November 7, 2018. His wife Diane tried to wake him, he had passed away due to heart attack. I think he flew mostly out of SLC. -Bonnie Dahl (11/14/18) Sorry to hear about Jack. He and I had been in touch over the years. -Jake Lamkins (11/14/18) A J MARTIN Emp# 05471, DENMA Address in Salt Lake City, Utah per the Nov 1984 Frontier Employees Roster. -Jake Lamkins (11/18/18) Jack was based in SLC many years but by 1978 he was a DEN captain and was there until the bankruptcy. He subscribed to the Frontier News since 2003. I am still unable to find an obituary or anything about him on the internet. -Jake Lamkins (11/20/18) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Jack Martin SLC DEN pilot Jack Martin's memorial webpage is posted at http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Jack_Martin.html Still need an obituary for him and a better photo. His obituary & photo will appear in this Sunday's Denver Post and is already at the Cody Enterprise for tomorrow. Jack and I married in 1967 and I had to quit flying. He was very devoted to Frontier and enjoyed the newsletter very much. I was with him when he took the photo of the Gone West photo. -Diane Terry Martin (12/13/18) Photo problem corrected by receipt of obit pic. Sorry for the confusion. -Jake Lamkins (12/14/18) Jack Martin Gone West Saw in a DEN obit that AJ Martin passed. (A photo of him) in a FAL 737 while still a first officer RIP old friend. Keep the runway clear for we will be heading your way soon enough... Blue Skies & Tailwinds on your westerly flight, Jack! -Billy Walker (12/16/18) Last I knew, he was still in Cody! Saw him some years back and we visited quite a while! Sorry to hear that he’s gone! He could be an ornery ol’ cuss, sometimes, but deep down, he was a pussycat! God Rest his Soul! Blessings to Diane! So sad! -Pat Williams-harter (12/18/18) Although it warmed my heart to see a photo of Jack I was saddened to hear of his passing. I flew with Captain Martin at Frontier Airlines as one of his First Officers. As gruff as his exterior seemed to be it hid the heart of a big Teddy Bear. Jack used to carry a Polaroid camera in his bag. When a mechanic tried telling Jack that a suspect tire on the airplane didn't need replacement, Jack would snap a photo of it and ask the mechanic to sign it. They never did, they always changed the tire instead. -Terry Thompson (12/16/18)
