Howard Allen Petracek WICHITA EAGLE Guest Book has been kept online until 2/7/2011 by Wichita Eagle http://www.legacy.com/gb2/default.aspx?bookid=5025251169716&cid=full November 12, 2010 I have been searching the obituaries for many months and somehow missed seeing Howard's obituary. I delivered Meals on Wheels to him for quite awhile and was always amazed at his wonderful spirit in spite of his serious health issues. He always had a smile on his face and in his voice. When he told me of his diagnosis, I just prayed he would not suffer. My belated sympathies to all his family, ~ Carol Malarky, Overland Park, Kansas February 15, 2010 I worked with Howard in OAK when FAL pulled out of LAW. We shared an apartment in OAK. We took two trips to NRT and HNG. I last saw Howard in MCI in Oct 09. May God Bless him. Your friend Jeff ~ Jeff Hutchinson, Lawton, Oklahoma February 14, 2010 All Howard's many friends at the old Frontier Airlines are saddened to hear of his passing. Our condolences to his family. ~ Jake Lamkins, Fayetteville, Arkansas February 14, 2010 My condolences to all of the Petraceks. Howard was a great Father to his family, and inspirational friend to all that knew him. He was always so passionate about travel to new places. It was great that he could at least visit those places via the internet through the eyes of others. Thank you for your friendship Howard. ~ Dennis Casadoro, Seattle, Washington February 08, 2010 To the Petracek Family, Thank you for allowing us to care for Howard. We are happy we got to know him. We liked hearing about his many travels around the world and the many things he had done in his life. He enjoyed his many visitors and enjoyed watching his grandkids play with Ginger, the pug. He will be missed. The Staff at Sweetlife Grand Court ~ Overland Park, Kansas February 07, 2010 Rest Howard, until you hear at dawn, the low, clear reveille of God. Thank you for your service to this nation. ~ Harry Simpson, Wichita, Kansas ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ JOHNSON COUNTY FUNERAL CHAPEL Memory Book for Howard Petracek http://www.johnsoncountychapel.com/obituaries/tribute.html?url=http://stei-23808.tributes.com/show/Howard-Petracek-87774102 Share your memories of Howard Petracek Howard was two years ahead of me in school. He was in Galen's class. We also had associations through 4-H. In all of my associations with Howard he was happy-go-lucky. His humor and brains made him a good person to be around. God Bless the whole family --- brothers and sisters, and children and wife. Posted by: John Wahlmeier San Manuel, AZ - None (Friend) Feb 17, 2010 Howard was one of my dearest friends at United. I worked with him mostly on the Midnight shift in the Mini-Load He was the most caring and friendly person you could ever want to have as a co-worker. We worked well together and he made the night go by fast. We talked about his many real estate ventures and his travels with United. I will miss him dearly and I lost a great friend and co-worker. God Bless your family during these sad times. I know Howard would want you not to feel sorry for him but to rejoice what time he had here. He lived life to its fullest even after the loss of his leg. Thank you for sharing him with me. My husband John also sends his condolences to your family, he also worked for United and knew Howard well. Our Deepest Condolences to you all. Shari L. Klinkerfuss Edmond, OK - Co-Worker From United Airlines Feb 16, 2010 Sheryl, Steve and Keith, Some friendships last and the our friendship with your father was one of those. Starting in high school and lasting all these years. I remember a studious, blonde headed boy with a constant smile, a sharp mind, the debater. He never lost that smile and optimistic outlook. Our friendship went on into adulthood and knowing you as children. Carl and Howard's ownership in the houseboat with Bob Pedigo; having it upset on the lake at Alma. Your father saying next time let's buy an airplane. The evening they put the houseboat in the water and were going to meet the wives on the other side of the lake at Patterson Harbor. Hours later, now dark, we couldn't find them. They had grounded the houseboat on a sand bar and had to get into the water to push it off. Your father didn't swim but did his part with the aid of a life perserver. He took Carl, our son Bob and father-in-law Mel on a deep sea fishing trip in California. It was a windy day, the sea was rough. Four very sick fishermen were glad to to put their feet on land hours later; their extensive lunch untouched. Your father said he was sure one could get rich with a boat that would take fisherman back to shore early. Carl's last visit with Howard was the day before Thanksgiving. Your father had e-mailed about his cancer and with his usual optimistic outlook said he was going to beat the cancer. He was happy, his cheerful self and that's the way I'll always remember him. It was a good friendship and we will miss him. Posted by: Carl and Charolette Neff Norton, KS Feb 16, 2010 Howard, I salute you my good friend. We became associated in Wichita in 1979 when we both got into the airline biz at about the same time. We used to travel together bringing souvenir Airline Logo playing cards with us on the trips trading them to the In-flights for what ever they had in the galley to trade. We got some good quality stuff but all the schmoozing in the world did not get us upgraded to First Class in all of our attempts. Many more memories to go with... My sympathy to Howards extended family. Posted by: Dennis Casadoro Seattle, WA Feb 15, 2010 Howard and I went through high school together. We were partners in physic class when we were juniors. Our class was not very large so each loss is sorely felt. One summer my brother Rusty worked in the wheat fields on the Petracek farm. I think he even dated Howard's sister for a while. The thoughts and prayers of the Addleman and Ingold families go out to the families of Howard Petracek. Posted by: Ruth Ann (Addleman) Ingold Lenexa, KS Feb 12, 2010 Howard, we'll miss you! To my dad and mom you were like a son. To us kids you were a brother, a friend, and to me a connection with the memory of my father. We had great times watching K-State games over at Ricky's in Oakland. Many times we were the only two who cared about the game, but Ricky would find the game before we got there. Howard just had a way with people. Trust me, heaven will now be more fun and the K-State game will be televised! ho Posted by: David Bremer Newton, KS Feb 11, 2010 Sorry sorry to hear of your loss.... he was a great coworker from Indy. He will be missed and remembered by many. Posted by: Craig S. Sackett San Francisco, CA Feb 10, 2010 Howard was always a good friend and coworker and I am very proud to have known him. I will miss his regular emails, but he will always be a friend. My sympathy to his family, you are in our prayers. Posted by: John Pionke Avon, IN Feb 10, 2010 I worked with Howard as a Storekeeper for United Airlines in Indianapolis. He was a mentor for many of the less experienced people working there. Howard had an excellent head for investments, and enjoyed sharing his insights with us. He had a great sense of humor and kept our work interesting and fun. He will be missed. My condolences to his family at this time of grief. Posted by: PPete Ballew Indianapolis, IN Feb 10, 2010 Sheryl, thinking of you and your family, my deepest sympathies. Posted by: Chris Shaw Gillespie Marion, KS Feb 08, 2010 I delivered meals on wheels to Howard. What a sweet man. He was always glad to see you and loved to visit. I will miss him he was full of life. My deepest sympathy to your family. Posted by: Peggy Clayton Lenexa, KS Feb 08, 2010 We never knew when Howard would show up at our door, but we were always happy to see him. He would never stay more than one night, saying "Relatives are like fish, after 3 days they start to smell." Posted by: Larry & Frances Bremer Laguna Hills, CA Feb 07, 2010 The staff of D.W.
