I had a signal that I should go see him, so I packed up and headed to KC in December. The day after I left he started failing... The last meaningful conversation I had with him was New Year's Eve. He was on morphine the rest of his time and I could not make sense of our conversation. I will miss that man. -Dennis Casadoro (2/15/10) I was with Frontier from 3/77 til 3/85. Worked with Howard in OAK 10/84 - 3/85. Sure will miss him. -Winston McCarty (2/15/10) Howard took advantage of the travel benefits more than any agent I knew. He helped start up an Interline Club in the SFO/OAK Bay Area. He had contacts with all the airlines and always carried passes on most of them. He was ready to go any place at the drop of a hat. He made several round-the-world trips. -Ray Hall (2/15/10) Posted at the FL Club Subject: Senior station agent Howard Petracek memorial webpage HOWARD PETRACEK 1978 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT ICT OAK http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Howard_Petracek.html Post your remembrances of Howard. -Jake Lamkins (2/20/10) Here are some postings for Howard's Tripod site The HKG pix 1 & 2 are scans from Polaroids, so may not be able to do much. I may have the dates of Howard and me being in Hong kong at home. - will look. It was early 80s. -Dennis Casadoro (3/1/10) I did some flight log checks. Howard and I were in Hong Kong and Osaka in September of 1983. We rode the bullet train to Osaka just to say we did...We flew to Osaka walked around the block and rode back to TYO. In HKG we went to Charlie Changs tailor and both had two suits made, took the tram up to Victoria peak and had the emperor photo's and rode the rick-shaws. In March of 1984 we were in New Zealand together Howard regularly took his kids to HNL from OAK. They would catch the morning OAK-HNL flight over and go have lunch and run around Waikiki, then catch the red-eye home that night. I think he just wanted warm food :) -Dennis Casadoro (3/2/10) I got more pix and info on Howard. His memorial webpage is at http://fal-1.tripod.com/Howard_Petracek.html -Jake Lamkins (3/2/10) I am writing to let you know about another one of our comrades who has gone west. Howard Petracek passed away on Feb 5th, 2010. Howard started out as a station agent in Wichita, KS. He transferred to Oakland, CA as a senior station agentn 1981 when Oakland opened up and was there until Frontier ceased operations. I worked with Howard from 1981 to 1983, at which time I transferred to Cedar Rapids, IA to help open that station. I am sure that all of Howard's friends remember him as a very friendly person. I have asked his son, Steve, to email you the info regarding Howard. -Wayne Teakell (3/6/10) I am in MCI, howling winds and sideways snow. I was in town for Howard's memorial service. He did not want a funeral, and wanted his family and a few friends to be invited. There was about 30 or so. I got to meet his two sisters and saw his oldest son. Had not seen him for about 30 years. Very nice, much happier than a funeral! They saw the stuff you did for Howard on the website and really was pleased. Thanks for all you do. -Dennis Casadoro (3/20/10) Hi Jake Do you have Howard listed. Originally a wheat farmer from Western KS. After he retired from farming, he opened ICT as a jet station. He and I used to travel together. We went to Hong Kong and had suits and sport jackets made. Another time we went to Tokyo and went to Disneyland, rode the Bullet Train to Nagoya just to say we did. New Zealand another time. When he worked in OAK he used to fly World Airways to HNL for a 24 hour trip sleeping on the over water DC10 legs. After our shut down, he worked for UA to put beans on the table in Maintenance. How many of you have good memories too. I almost forgot about his love for K-State's College sports (MHK). He had purple Polo shirt, purple Hopsack Pants and Purple cowboy boots to dress for game day. (6/27/21) Roberta Brashears Dennis - this is a VERY nice post for your friend. Fred Watson R.I.P. (6/27/21) Michael Reid Howard was a great friend to Lori and I. Worked with him in Wichita with Dennis Casadoro. Went to a couple of Raider games up in Oakland with him when we lived in Los Angeles. Always stayed in contact with each other. He is truly missed by us. Always called him Dad! Dennis Casadoro Michael Reid, Correction - he called everyone Dad. Lol (7/1/21)
