HOADLEY DEAN 1960 - 1985 BOARD OF DIRECTORS RAP Hoadley Dean was a member of the FL Board of Directors and part of the RAP group. -Roger Greenlee, CYS, JAC, LAR, LAW, CPR, GCK, RKS, & RAP (2/17/03) I had a couple of letters to Hoadley Dean that went to the Board of Directors, Hoadley ran me through a lot of interrogation before they were sent. I met Hoadley in 1964 when I was working in the Denver station, we ended up as good friends. I paid the price for going to him with my ideas (managers and agents are not supposed to jump the chain of command) he was a tough guy to persuade, then he agreed to sending my letters to Glen. Hoadley felt that some of the ideas could change FL's direction. Carolyn Boller saw some of the letters in my personal file, I have them somewhere. If I run across them I will send you a copy, if you think they might be of some interest. Later on I had a by chance two hour meeting with Glen Ryland and his wife the Friday night before he was fired. He set it up for me to work with him on some of the ideas that I had that would improve yield on all flights. Plans were also discussed on how everyone in the stations and reservations productivity could be improved while building a better relationship between the employees and Glen. We talked about the many ideas that I had expressed to Hoadley. Glen was very receptive to the ideas once I was able to get through to him. I was to start the following Monday morning. He served two years and died 12-27-1989 per the legislative website noted above. The dates mentioned fit Almon H Dean in the SSDI. I'm assuming his middle name was Hoadley which he went by. Hoadley served on the FL board over 20 years. He was still on it in 1984. -Jake Lamkins (2/25/06) Subject: Updated memorial webpage HOADLEY DEAN 1960 - 1985 BOARD OF DIRECTORS RAP http://OR2.tripod.com/Hoadley_Dean.html Hoadley was the longest serving FL board member I've found. 8 more items added to his page. Post your remembrances of Hoadley. Jake Lamkins (1/9/10) FLacebook posting of the Oct 1985 Frontier sale: Hoadley did not sign this (the Oct 8, 1985 document), as he was a dissenting vote as it came to the PEX sale and was rather vocal about pursuing possible other avenues. At the meeting on October 8th, 1985, in NY, the BOD was in a headlock over how to proceed with the sale of the stock. Almost everyone involved in this transaction I interviewed about this time period for the book could not understand why there was such resistance by the employees to an acquisition by Texas Air. I could easily see why, as, to no fault of their own, they didn't really understand the union's respective positions after the CAL fiasco with Lorenzo in 1983. Hank Lund even told me the same thing... he thought joining CAL at this point would've been a more preferable course of action... definitely an interesting course of events from Aug-Oct 1985. That's a book in itself!!!! -Greg Stearns (12/5/15) FLacebook - FL Club RAP board member Hoadley Dean's memorial webpage has been upgraded: http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Hoadley_Dean.html Moved to a non-ad site and added 9 items.
