GORDON SHAFFER 1947 - 1968 EMPLOYMENT MANAGER, PERSONNEL MANAGER DEN I originally started Feb 10, 1958 in the accounting department, then worked in purchasing for a while, then worked the switchboard for a while and then a secretary for Gordon Shaffer in Personnel until Sept 30, 1966. I was there from the DC-3's until the 727's came in. I had a baby in Nov of 66 and returned to work in July of 1967 when my husband was killed in a car accident. I returned as a Res. Agent, worked there 6 months then went back to the general office as Exec Secy to Jim Dixson in Scheduling, after he left I worked as an Exec Secy for Vern Carlson, Ken Smith and Ed Gerhardt in Public Affairs. Married again in June of 1974 and just worked part time for 3 years. Then went to work in PR for Larry Bishop in Sept of 1977, then to Pilot Payroll when Ryland made everyone cut their personnel by 10%, worked there about a year, then went to work for Lowell Shirley it IT as an Exec Secy until I left in July of 1985 to go to work for U S WEST. I have fond memories of my experiences with Frontier. -Jeanne Hanson (6/21/08) C. G. SHAFFER DEN employment manager Per the Nov 1955 Frontier Employees Roster C. G. SHAFFER Notation says Gordon DEN personnel manager DOB 9/30/25 DOH 3/16/47 Per the Feb 1960 Frontier Employees Roster Nothing at SSDI -Jake Lamkins (5/11/11) He is on the Sep 1966 FL/ALEA Seniority List cover letter. And he appears in a Jan 1968 news item but he is not in the Jan 1970 Frontier telephone directory or on the Dec 1970 Frontier Employees Roster. Roy Hilderman is shown as director-personnel in Apr 1970 so I'm guessing Gordon left in 1968. Found out about his WWII service from his obituary. -Jake Lamkins (10/19/20) FLacebook - FL Club FLight West: Gordon Shaffer GORDON SHAFFER 1947 - 1968 EMPLOYMENT MANAGER, PERSONNEL MANAGER DEN http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Gordon_Shaffer.html Not many FLolks knew Gordon had been shot down and captured in WWII. He was only 19 years old at the time in 1945. Post your remembrances of him. -Jake Lamkins (10/22/20) Joe Aguirre He hired me first go around at Frontier. WAL had fired 123 Flight Engineers because of nation wide F/E strike. I had been working out at the middle site as Test Engineer. My wife’s uncle knew Gordon. So he told Gordon about me wanting to go back in the airline maintenance. So I went out and met him. Hired me. A year later I got a F/E job flying cargo. A year after that I re-hired with Frontier till Sept, 18, 1986. Thanks to every one I got to meet at Frontier. Made my ride a very memorable one for sure. Herb Schmidt I knew Gordon - a great guy. He hired me as a station agent in January 1959. He later contacted me in July 1959 for new position in sales with Frontier and have Vern Carlson in Denver sales office. RIP. (10/22/20)
