He is an authentic WWII hero and his war diary will be printed in the next FL newsletter. It's already posted at the FL Club. He flew with FL from 1951 til 1984. -Jake Lamkins (3/19/09) Posted at the FL Club: Ace Avakian's recent FARPA newsletter has an article about George Meshko who completed his 25 B-17 missions over Germany before he turned 19! The FL newsletter featured George a few issues ago. -Jake Lamkins (11/25/09) I just saw George Meshko on TV, 0820 this morning May 12, 2011. He was on Channel 31, Fox News, Denver. It is story about the Liberty Belle, B-17 airplane. They interviewed George and another WW II pilot, George was great. He said he was 18 and only weighed 120 lbs. Last time he flew it was 1944. So George, News lady, pilots and others went for flight. George said: "it was a trip down memory lane, he didn't remember how noisy airplane was and how much it vibrated , But when you're 18 you don't notice those things." George did good! He's pretty much famous now! -Bonnie Dahl (5/12/11) G. MESHKO DEN Capt. DOB 3/20/25 DOH 5/9/51 Per 2/60 FL Roster -Jake Lamkins (5/12/11) Thanks Jake, I enjoyed that. I flew with George and knew him for Twenty plus years, but he never mentioned his combat experience. -Weldon Finney (5/13/11) Here is a picture of Frontier Captain George Meshko. I took the picture in June 2008 at the Denver reunion. George had a private airplane painted in Frontier colors. I saw it at Longmont airport, but I can't find a picture of it. -Al Beardsley (8/6/12) FAL GEORGE M MESHKO ALPA # 0109116 DOB 03/20/25 DOH 01/01/51 RET 01/10/86 per the FL ALPA Roster. -Jake Lamkins (7/8/13) Note with renewal: We had the best of it! It's from yesterday's monthly DEN pilot luncheon. George is 88 now and a genuine WWII hero! -Jake Lamkins (12/11/13) Good Morning to all our friends who know and met George. He began to have a seizure the morning of the 9th and after witnessing two of them, son Jay took him to Denver Gen'l. He had tests ...vital signs were very good and was sent home with a prescription. Thursday got worse with frequent seizures. Friday morning, I could not get him to respond and called 911. He's at Presbyterian Hospital in ICU. He had the usual tests once again and this AM he'll have an MRI which hopefully will give us a clue as to why he's having these seizures. -Nancy Meshko (4/12/14) I have sad news. So glad I was able to see him at the Pilot's luncheon last week. RIP George. You will be missed. -Joanne Griffin (4/15/14) I remember working with him----he was always sweet to me. Sheril D Rodgers (4/15/14) We are so sad to hear of Georges passing. Lisa and I were watching the eclipse last night and there was a comforting peace in the red moon and the brilliant planets and stars that shown so bright. George always had his head in the clouds and beyond for all the right reasons. We're sure his light will be missed but always found in the heavens. -Dane and Lisa Pitarresi (4/15/14) Big group going to Meshko's memorial tomorrow. First Ft Logan, then funeral home, keg of beer, wine, champagne, ham dinner and there will be a fly over by some group plus the motorcycle escort. Expecting around 150 people. We should have a big send off for George. -Bonnie Dahl (4/20/14) FLacebook - FL Club DEN pilot George Meshko's memorial webpage is posted. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/George_Meshko.html -Jake Lamkins (4/22/14) Jake, you are a dear.
