GEORGE HOBBS 1952 - 1982 STATION AGENT, STATION MANAGER RWL SLC By way of introduction my name is Bill Thiets. I first started with FAL in 1958 in RWL working for George Hobbs. From there I went to HSI in March of 1959 to work for Royal Burt in his first city. I ended up in DEN in April of 1960. Cal Reese was my Station Manager at that time. -Bill Thiets (3/3/03) We had previous Mgrs. Come to Work in SLC, Gordon Bost, Geo. Hobbs, Clay Tanner, and Geo. Slivka. Don Anderton was Asst. Mgr, Gary McCarrel, Stan Covington,Dean Buethe, and Don Halterman were Sr. Agts. Maint.,Stewardess, and Pilots were based in SLC. -Duane Phelps (2/6/06) G E Hobbs Seniority date 5/8/52 FL/ALEA seniority list dated 11/1/55 -Jake Lamkins (2/11/06) Paul Farris told me he thought George Hobbs and Gordie Bost were dead. He suggested I check into them. Jake Lamkins (10/28/08) G E HOBBS Station agent seniority date of 5/8/52, emp# 03674, on the 1/1/74 FL/ALEA seniority list. I cannot find him on the 7/1/84 or 1/1/86 lists. I cannot find him in the 1970-83 FL phone directories. Cannot pin down at the SSDI - too many listed. George is on the ESOP Lost List. -Jake Lamkins (10/28/08) I cannot pin down Hobbs - there are too many at the SSDI. I also cannot find Hobbs on the 1984-86 seniority lists. Did he retire before then? -Jake Lamkins (10/28/08) Paul Farris told me today he thought both George and Gordie have passed away but he does not have any definite info. Paul knew them both in SLC where they were station agents. Does anyone have more info about them? -Jake Lamkins (10/28/08) Don Anderton wasn't much help, although he did say that Hobbs had been manager of Rawlings, Wyo before coming to SLC. Other than that we seem to be at an end. He does not remember any memorial or anything in SLC when Hobbs died so we thinks maybe he might have been back in RWL. Wish I would have got on to it earlier. -Paul Farris (10/28/08) I'm not giving up yet! I talked to Merle Beeler, he was an old TCA from SLC and he says Hobbs' wife still lives in the SLC area. I gave the info to Don and told him to locate her. I'll let you know as soon as I know something. -Paul Farris (10/29/08) I'm attaching my files on George and Gordy. Do you think we should declare them dead and proceed with making memorial webpages? -Jake Lamkins (11/6/08) I'm sure George is gone, but I'm not postive about Gordy. Don is supposed to try to contact George's wife for an obitutary. I haven't heard anything yet. -Paul Farris (11/6/08) Retirements George E. He worked there until they pulled out of Rawlins then he transferred to Salt Lake City. I rode on the DC3s and Convairs and the Jets, usually on my dad's pass. Sincerely, -Tad Hobbs (4/22/13) Great hearing from you. Your dad had to be George. I heard he had passed away but have not been able to confirm it. If so, I'll build him a memorial webpage at the Frontier website. Hope to hear from you. -Jake Lamkins (4/22/13) My dad was George Hobbs and he passed away in 1987. -Tad Hobbs (4/23/13) That's sad news. I'll start working on a memorial webpage for him.
