GEORGE DARDANO 1966 - 1985 PILOT DEN Please add George Dardano (DEN) a B-737 Captain and very dear friend, FAL approx 1962-1982 of cancer in Denver. Am guessing the dates, possible further info if needed. -Jim Taylor (6/22/00) George Dardano died 12/86 per FARPA newsletter May 2004. -Jake Lamkins (12/4/04) George's wife Bev is in the 1979 Frontier Family Cookbook. -Jake Lamkins (12/4/04) Sadly, I just received a phone call from her daughter that Bev Dardano passed away yesterday, Sunday 9/13. I'm sure many of you knew her - she was George's widow (George passed away 12-86 at the young age of 46). Bev has not been well for a number of years, suffering from COPD and emphysema. She has been in and out of the hospital frequently and recently just last Wednesday and Thursday. Her wish was to make it to her other daughter's (Nikki's) wedding which was last Friday and she was able to do that. Debbi said they have made funeral arrangements and they will be at 10:00 this Saturday, 9/19/09, at Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec St., Denver 303-Joanne Griffin (9/14/09) We are sorry to hear about Bev's passing. Her last years certainly have been tough ones. We all knew that George was a great practical joker. One of the great Dardano stories was the time George stretched some cellophane across the toilet bowl beneath the seat. The idea occurred to him after learning that Bev had invited some ladies over for lunch. You might well imagine the excitement that created! George laughed telling of his 'near death experience' when Bev was threatening to kill him for that one. -Billy Walker (9/14/09) G J DARDANO Pilot seniority date of 5/23/66 on the 9/1/81 FL/ALPA seniority list. He is not on the 9/1/85 list. -Jake Lamkins (9/14/09) I was hired by FAL and started DC-3 school on May 22 or 23, 1966. My classmates were George Dardano, Gary Staves, Terry Jackson, Tom Smith, Fletcher Huskey, Gary Williams, and two others whose names escape me. We all lived in the EI Patio Motel on East Colfax and hung out in the Blue Onion Bar/Restaurant. With the exception of Terry Jackson (formerly at Alaska Airlines) and Fletcher Huskey (formerly at another airline) each of us had less than 1000 hrs. total flying time. As I recall I had about 670 hrs. and only one hour of actual instrument time (in a Cessna 182). That period in time FAL was pretty short of pilots for the expansion it was going through, thus the lowering of experience requirements. We had not yet merged with Central Airlines, but I think Frontier was planning ahead for the B-727-100's later - 200's being delivered in the fall of 1966. -Pat Carroll (3/17/10) G.J.
