GARY PINSON 1968 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT SLC DFW MKC JAC HLN SEA DEN I talked to Gary Pinson today. He said they had gotten some rain but otherwise was not bothered by the hurricane. He also said he had just recieved news from the goverment about his UA retirement and they have cut it just about in half. He said he would probably have to get a part-time job to survive. Glad I got out when I did. -Paul Farris (9/23/05) I thought Pinson was in DEN. Is he living down in 'cane country now? -Jake Lamkins (9/24/05) Yes, he and Vicki are living in the Tampa area. She is still working. I think they have been down there a little over a year. -Paul Farris (9/24/07) GARY PINSON 58 BRANDON FL VICKIE L PINSON 52 BRANDON FL -US Search (11/24/05) Started out 11/28/72 in CDR with A.G. (George) Smith as manager and the other agent there was Paul Kreitman. Great station to learn in but not much for entertainment. Then on to SLC with Duane Phelps as manager and Don Anderton as assistant manager. That was a good all around experience. Good people all. You probably knew John Klonizos who was the union rep there. Also worked there with Paul Farris, Enoch Sorenson, Gary Pinson. -Ron Abfalter (7/14/06) Sorry to see Chuck Harding make the list on the FL website. When Gary Pinson, my brother, and myself were burned out of our condo in SLC back in 74 he was the first to jump in to help. -Ron Abfalter (1/15/07) I just got word that Gary Pinson passed away yesterday. Gary was a Senior Agent in Denver during the late 70s or early 80s. After Frontier he worked for United in Denver and retired a couple of years ago. He moved to Tampa Florida with his wife Vickie who transferred here. She is a Customer Service Representative. Gary suffered the past few years with some serious health issues. No details on services. -John Dahl (10/29/07) That's sad news, John, but thanks for letting me know. Please send his obituary and funeral details when you get them. Gary was a close friend for many years. -Jake Lamkins (10/29/07) Gary D. Pinson, emp # 07085, FT SA on the 8/9/86 DEN station roster. Please post any additional info you may have. -Jake Lamkins (10/29/07) So sorry to hear about Gary. I had not heard that he was in bad health. He was at the SLC reunion in 05. I talked to him in May or June 06 and he said he had gone back to work because of the United pension being cut in half. Gary was working in SLC in '73 when I transferred there. He was a good friend. We traveled together some and worked together in SLC and MKC. -Paul Farris (10/29/07) Pretty much stunned about the news. We roomed together in SLC and worked in JAC together. So long old friend. -Ron Abfalter Paul Farris & I talked about Gary. He had phoned his widow, Vickie, and talked to her. She said he had been sick a year or so and got really bad a few months ago. Per Gary's request, there will be no service and he will be cremated. Vickie will scatter his ashes along the Poudre River in CO next summer. His obituary should be in tomorrow's TPA Tribune. -Jake Lamkins (10/30/07) I was thinking of Gary Pinson today and remembered something that happened on the ski slopes in SLC. Clyde and Carol Stillman along with Gary and myself were skiing at Park West. Clyde had just gotten a new ball cap and was really proud of it. On one of the first runs of the day the cap came flying off. Gary was about 50 yards up the hill and hollered down for Clyde not to worry as he would pick up the hat for him. Ole Gary skiied by the hat and speared it with his pole then came up to Clyde and offered it like a piece of meat on a skewer. The pole tip had gone right through the hat and boy was Clyde pissed. Gary sure knew how to get it goin. -Ron Abfalter (10/30/07) There are no memorial services for Gary Pinson per his wishes. There may be something next spring in Denver and if I get any details, I will let you know. -John Dahl (11/2/07) WHAT A SAD THING . THE FIRST TIME I MET GARY, ALL OF US IN JAC WERE AT A JERRY JEFF WALKER CONCERT AT THE TETON CONTY FAIR. GARY HAD BROUGHT HIS 9 MO PG WIFE TO JAC IN THE HOPE THAT HIS FIRST CHILD WOULD BE BORN THERE. SUCH WAS HIS LOVE FOR THE PLACE. SURE ENOUGH WE HAD TO RUSH HER TO THE HOSPITAL AND GARY'S DAUGHTER WAS BORN THAT NIGHT ACCOMPANIED BY A GROUP OF HAPPY FL FOLKS. HE WAS ONE OF A KIND. -LINDA HAMALA (11/2/07) Gary's obituary is posted in the Tampa Tribune today. Vicki called to let me know it was there. -Paul Farris (11/2/07) Posted at the FL Club: Subject: FL Club Gary Pinson obituary Gary's obituary is at http://legacy. com/TBO/Obituari es.asp?Page= Lifestory& PersonId= 97139724 Please leave a note in his guestbook. -Jake Lamkins (11/2/07) OBITUARY Gary Pinson PINSON, Gary, 60, died Sunday, October 28, 2007, in Brandon, Fla. He was amazing. Gary could party all night and still be into work in the morning. Will miss you Gary. -Dave Gabbart (11/3/07) Vickie Pinson returned to work today and is trying to smile between hugs and tears. Would you be able to send her an invitation to this group? -John Dahl (11/8/07) It be done. -Jake Lamkins (Vickie joined the FL Club right away.) (11/8/07) I don't know if I told you or not but Dave Morris' son Bret had a dream the night before Dave died that Tom Enger and Gary Pinson came and picked Dave up in a seventies pickup with seventies clothes on. Kinda eerie isn't it. Last I heard is that Tom was back in VA somewhere working for CO. If you know any CO agents they might be able to see if he is still on the roster. -Ken Wientjes (12/20/07) Yes, it's damned spooky and even more than that if Tom has passed. Pinson died just 3 days before Dave Morris! -Jake Lamkins (12/20/07) Dear Jake, I just want to thank you for the awesome job you do with the FL website and for Gary's webpage. It is very special to me. Also I would like to get 4 more copies of the recent newsletter, I will send you a check. It is amazing that Dave Morris died just three days later and that his grandson had that dream. I hope it is true. Again, thanks for everything. Sincerely, -Vickie Pinson (1/25/08) Got a call from Vickie Pinson this morning and she gave me the info on Gary's memorial. It is to be held at the Glen Echo Resort west of Ft. Collins. The web site is www.coloradodirectory.com/glenechoresort2 She has it planned for June 28th with the service at 4pm. Vickie said she was having food catered for that evening. Anyone going and planning to spend the night should make reservations soon. -Paul Farris (3/19/08) Here are some pictures for you from Pinson's service in Colorado.
