I vaguely remember him flying the short overnights to Minot in the 80's. Joe Barker I knew Fuzz well - he used to fly thru my cities often, especially GFK RONs - I think he flew for CO after 1986 but have not heard about him since. He was one fine pilot and also a great person + spent a few hours tipping a few with him. Jake Lamkins Fuzz started as a RIW station agent on 2/21/59 and went piloting 4/18/66 and served until the bitter end. He now lives in Castle Rock, CO. Does anybody know how he got his nickname? 1977 photo courtesy of fellow pilot Dave Rampton. (1/30/13) Al Beardsley He's one of my all-time-favorite Captains! Sharon Trumble Captain Precious! We had more than a couple of those as you guys know so well. Jeff Abrams Great guy to fly with and great guy all around! Joe Barker He was one of quite a few captains that were always pleasant and respectful to the station staff - but I think he went out of his way to always try to make our job easier - just a class guy all the way around. Marcia Glasrud Crump Thanks for the info on Fuzz. He was great to fly with on short overnites with Frontier. Henry Rankin I remember the doctors bag overnight kit Duane Phelps I was station manager. in RIW when Fuzz was agent, he was constantly getting his hours in, and we took trips to LAR for football games, and air days at the airport for kids. Always jolly - went to flying FL after I left in 1964. (1/30/13) Ken Wientjes He is a great guy and I miss them getting off the airplance and coming into the ops room to visit. Al Beardsley Did the doctors bag have lock picks in it, Henry Rankin? (There is a story here.) Jean Smith Thompson Loved flying co-pilot for Fuzz. - and yes, he did fly for CO out of EWR. (2/1/13) Joe Barker Fuzz was a hell of a Capt - every time I was on one of his flights both on the CVR and the 737, he would always ask me if I wanted to ride up front. It was indeed a thrilling experience for me to be able to see from the cockpit and watch the takeoffs and landings - only draw back was, you could not order a cocktail in the cockpit. about an hour ago. Connie Mcalister Fuzz was a great Capt. If we were a little late in pushing back, he would always say.. Connie, what do you need..meaning times so didn't have to write a delay, I would tell him I needed a Man..he would just shake his head and shut the cockpit window. What wonderful days at FAL! (5/29/13) FL Club post about Ed Jones, FLight West I'm kinda outta the loop, so just read about Eddy. Worked with Eddy in RIW. I left in 1966 - got hired as Copilot. As I recall Eddy and Betty met in RIW. My condolences to Betty and the bunch -Fuzz Parten (9/6/15) His daughter left a voice mail that he had flown west and asked me to phone her. She said Jim Schwartz gave her my name and phone. Phoned her back and chatted 11 minutes. Fuzz died this morning in Rodeo, NM from lung cancer. He was 85 years old. Fuzz's real name was Hayes Arthur Parten. He was nicknamed Fuzz as a 6 month old child because he was so hairy. His son was Craig Parten who was a Frontier station agent for 5 - 10 years. -Jake Lamkins (3/11/21) H A PARTEN Pilot seniority date of 4/18/66 DOB 5/20/35 Per the Sep 1970 pilot seniority list H A PARTEN Emp# 06931 DEN first officer DOB 5/20/35 DOH 2/21/59 Per the Dec 1970 employees roster -Jake Lamkins (3/11/21) FLacebook (1977 photo of Fuzz) FLight West FUZZ PARTEN 1959 - 1986 STATION AGENT, PILOT RIW DEN His daughter Debbie phoned that Fuzz flew west this morning due to lung cancer.
