FRED KREBS 1958 - 1986 STATION AGENT MKC DEN Posted at FL Club when chat was on where we were when JFK was killed: Re 41 years ago today...... at DENOOCN with Sam Cales (deceased), Rudy Skeen (deceased), Fred Krebs, Vernon Bennet, and Errol Klein. Feeling very shocked along with the whole nation that something like this could happen here in the USA. -Jim Lane (11/22/04) Duane Franklin and I went to the Rockies game yesterday and he was trying to help me access FL info. I'm retired from CO Cargo and keep busy with the Marine Corps League and other veterans groups that I belong to. I will be subscribing to your newsletter. Next week Duane and I will be attending the FL picnic. -Fred Krebs (6/13/08) FREDRICK T KREBS SA FT, Emp# 5040 on the 8/9/86 DEN station roster F T KREBS JR Station agent seniority date of 8/18/58, emp# 05040, on the 1/1/86 FL/ALEA seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (6/13/08) Fred Krebs' Note: I stated with Central Airlines on August 18, 1958 in Kansas City with Jim Shores being my first manager. In December 1958 I transferred to Denver, working for Central until the merger on October 1, 1967 with Frontier. I worked for Frontier in all phases of agents work until August 1986 when Frontier ceased operations. I then went to work for Continental Airlines in November 1986 continuing until my retirement on December 1, 2001 concluding over 43 years in the airlines industry. I was working as a cargo supervisor for Continental when I retired. Since retirement I keep busy with the Marine Corps League. I had retired from the Marine Corps Reserve as a CWO4. I am also active in other veterans organization: 1st Marine Division Assn., Marine Corps Aviation Assn., Reserve Officers Assn, and the American Legion. Participation in the Marine Corps League gives me a reason to travel, having attended National conventions In Boston, Dallas, Harrisburg, PA, Nashville, Spokane, Albuquerque, and this year to Orlando. When Frontier shutdown I was on vacation, having returned from Boston. I was called to work with several other agents to work People's Express flights. Between flights we had the sad experience to inventory and get the station's assets in order. One lowlight was assisting Cal Reese in cleaning up baggage claims. I recall opening one letter where a passenger had returned to FL, a $400.00 check as in his opinion it was insufficient. I always wondered what his reaction was to have something and now nothing! (6/17/08) Today I receved the winter 2010 edition of the Frontier News. I was saddened to learn that Errol Klein had passed away. I worked with Errol at Central Airlines in Denver. At that time our crew consisted of Errol, Sam Cales, who was the manager, Rudy Skeen, Vern Bennett, and I. Sadly, Rudy and Sam are also deceased. I remember when Errol was hired. At that time Same and Errol belonged to an archery club, and Sam convinced Errol that working with us was the place to be. He will be sorely missed. -Fred Krebs (1/25/10) Jack Killingsworth sent me some photos from Central Days in Denver. Is this something you could use? Let me know and I'll send copies. I will also identify the folks in the photos. One is of me when I was much younger and slimmer. I worked with Jack in DEN and he was our ALEA Rep. He now lives in Bartlesville. You do an outstanding job with the Frontier News. Thank you. -Fred Krebs (7/15/10) Hi Fred, Would love to see the pix you mentioned. Can you email copies and IDs to me? Did Jack work at Frontier until the end? -Jake Lamkins (7/15/10) First photo is Flight Attendant Luster and Paul Overdier. Second is Bonnie Deschner who was our reservationist. Third Rudy Skeen, and fourth me. Some of these were taken in 1960, and the rest about the same time. Re Jack Killingsworth, I believe he left Central prior to the merger with FL. -Fred Krebs (7/16/10) Thanks so much, Fred. Those pix are great history. -Jake Lamkins (7/16/10) Richard Medinger I worked with Fred in DEN. He was from my home town, OLU. -Facebook (7/17/10) Here is something you may be able to use for the FL News Picture #76 is with me and Bill and Joyce Hunter Picture #79 is with me and Jim and Mary Lane Mini Reunion in Boise The first week in August, I was in Boise to attend the National Marine Corps League Convention. While there I was able to meet with Bill Hunter, his wife Joyce and Jim and Mary Lane. Like me, Bill is in the Marine Corps League and is Commandant of the Department of Montana. I saw Bill every day at the convention, and it had been 25 years since I had last seen him. Bill now resides in GTF. Jim and Mary live in Meridian, ID, which was only a 10 minute drive from the hotel. It had been at least 15 years since I had seen Jim. I still recall the first time I met Jim and Mary. They had appeared at the Central Airlines ticket counter and advised that he was coming to work for Central in Denver. That was in March 1961. When the snow flies, Jim and Mary head for Arizona where they have another home. It was great to see both them. -Fred Krebs (8/12/11) Great stuff, Fred! Thanks for sending them. -Jake Lamkins (8/12/11) It is with sadness that I advise you that former FL agent Fred Aerni passed away on July 7, 2014 at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln NE. I had last seen Fred at our 60th High School reunion in Columbus, NE in April. At one time, there were 5 of us from OLU working at Frontier in Denver, Fred, Chuck Janssen (deceased), Dick Medinger, John Moss and me. Growing up together in OLU I had know Fred forever. His wife Linda was a former FL Flight Attendant. -Fred Krebs (7/8/14) Got a Christmas card today from Fritz Krebs, Fred Krebs' son telling me of his dad's passing. Also a copy of Fred's Obituary.
